Sometimes when I'm around someone who speaks English as a second language, their accent rubs off on me and then I start to speak more with their accent. I stayed with my Thai friend for like two weeks and noticed it. Ditto. I think that's supportive of the Intense World theory. You get comfortable ... |

That may just be the single funniest thing I have ever read on WP. If I had a hat on, I'd take it off to you, lady. |

The thing is, the 'line' is in a different place for every NT, as well. Further, even NTs who are blinded by their need for someone sometimes cross the 'line' as well. I guess what I'm saying is that you have to do two things: (1) find something else to focus on from time to time, so that you can re... |

Rule 1: Everything you see on television or in the movies, or read in a novel or a comic book - is wrong. Don't try to imitate it. Rule 2: The least threatening places to begin to learn social skills are places where people are naturally friendly, and accepting: book clubs, church choirs, support gr... |

Maybe unrelated, but I'm trying to quit smoking right now, and I'm taking nicotine lozenges to ease the craving. And boy, does that make me social - in fact, for some people, the difference from 'regular' me is unsettling.
And, I laugh more, but that's a whole 'nother thing. |

I prefer to participate in structured activities (with my friends) - it's easier to interact in structured situations, because there's always a focus for interactions. That's why I like being in little theatre, community choirs, and stuff like that. |

Not a dumb question, obviously. All Aspies should be following news on the DSM update very closely. It could mean radical changes to your life. |

In the novelization of the movie, Pavel recalls that he was a young crewman that had a crush on Marla MacGivers. So actually Khan was BS-ing: of COURSE he knew who Chekov was. |

Having gone through a considerable amount of bullying myself, I sympathize, but I disagree. Unlike children, most adults have options, and don't have to depend upon the whims of authority figures to protect their physical safety. Any healthy adults that allow themselves to be bullied have to find wa... |

No. When I was in (a mostly white) high school, I hated: team sports and pep rallies; field trips and dances; student government and the yearbook committee; lunch; and almost everything else. Aspies hate NT group activities and NT social structures, regardless of the supposed cultural source. But th... |

I am not a doctor - all the usual disclaimers apply.
But could it be related to stimming? Perhaps, like those who engage in other repetitive behaviours, you just crave the stimulus? |
