I vote that you should definitely be able to live on your own, find a job, and meet someone to share your life with whether you have Asperger's or not. You will find on this site an amazing array of Aspies who lead great and inspiring lives. I definitely agree with Dracula that your transition shoul...

I don't know for sure if my advice will help or not, but I thought that perhaps it could. I do agree that you should be yourself, and not conform to the standards of society if you don't want to or if it feels horrible for you to have to sacrifice some part of yourself. (I can certainly relate to fe...

My favorite hobbies. If I don't get regular doses of camping, hiking, climbing, trail running, canoeing, whatever... during the summer, I get very restless (in terms of wanting to go somewhere and do something). In the winter, I enjoy camping, hiking and skiing (XC and alpine). I feel this way too,...

Thank you all so much!! ! This is all extremely helpful. Keep all the advice coming; it's very insightful! This is actually the first time we've experienced this together though I knew it would sometime occur based on what he'd told and what I've read. So when it did, I wasn't 100% sure what to do a...

Hi, it's me again. I was going to wait around for a while while replies piled in for my earlier questions, but then something happened yesterday which I absolutely have to ask about. It's about my friend with Asperger's. He experienced some kind of sensory overload/ overstimulation episode yesterday...

This is some great dialogue here. I'm glad I mentioned my experiences because I've been perplexed about these things for a little while now. I'm trying to understand all I can about AS so that I don't make these blunders as an NT. The community here is great, and the feedback is awesome. I'm always ...

I'm not sure if this exactly the sort of thing you're talking about, but my best friend who has Asperger's has motor skills problems, such as with tying knots, chopping food, flinging rubber bands... things that seem to involve hand coordination. I think there are other Aspies with these issues too....

I just discovered something exciting about the usefulness of trampolines in exercise and thought I'd post it here. Who would have thought they would be such a good workout? I saw them at the store for only $17 and thought they looked like fun, but not especially useful. I found that I couldn't stop ...

Hmm. This is interesting. I'm NT, and I think I'm guilty of doing this very thing. Oh no!! So advise me, if you can. Or if not, it's okay. But, in your opinion, what would it mean if you were talking with someone with AS, then turned to look at them, and they had this dreamy, perhaps groggy sort of ...

I was going to see if I could opt for the middle ground, but I like this answer.

I just thought of posting this question to see what kind of advice I receive! My best friend with AS has a real problem with overspending on his favorite hobbies. His favorite hobbies are also MY favorite hobbies, and I must admit, we BOTH tend to obsess on them when we're together and spend most of...

[quote="Compiku"][quote="mirandao"] I think that in some ways, the fact that I don't drive makes it easier to focus on roads...because I can pay attention to route numbers and signs and stuff instead of actually having to pay attention to driving. For example, a few days ago, I w...

I'm from Ohio, so I mostly focus on roads here, even though they aren't spectacular. The ironic part is that, despite my obsession with roads, I don't even have a driver's license. Wow, a road geek from Ohio! I'm from Ohio, but definitely not a road geek as maps give me lots of trouble, unfortunate...

You wrote a cat book? That's cool!! Did you get it published yet? It's always been one of my goals to become a writer, but I tend to lose interest after I've written a few chapters.

So here I am, finally replying to your message to me! Iron Age archaeology sounds fantastic to me. If I were an archaeologist, I might study Viking Age Scandinavia. In your studies of Celtic cultures, have you gotten into Druidism at all? I find it pretty interesting. Do you study mostly toolmaking ...
