I was ambidestrous until my third grade teacher began hitting me with a ruler to force me into right-handedness. I've been left handed since. I shoot rifle and shotgun right handed. I shoot pistol left handed. I can shoot equally well with the other hand, but those are my first "reach for" preferanc... |

When I owned my own business, I did two different things (at different times) to solve similar problems. 1.) I set up a dry erase board next to the keyboard, with the steps listed in indelible marker. As I performed each step I'd make a check mark next to the step with the dry erase pen. Before the ... |

She was out of line and trying hard to prove just how big a b***h she is. It looks like she succeeded.

You have a few years on me. I'll be 70 next March. I didn't do the career military, just 5 1/2 years, but the rest of your career sure sounds familiar. I did put in a stint (almost 10 years) at driving school bus. I had to quit that when my hyper-focus started coming back so strongly I couldn't cont... |

If you don't want to get or can't use an external FD, and have some extra space on the external HD, why not use dd or similar? I have plenty of room on the external drive, but I don't understand the acronym "dd." Remember, the bootable drive list from which to choose doesn't recognise the external ... |

Default boot drive is not the problem. I know that one, as I wrote one of the first drivers to accomplish that task (CPM - GNAT Computers - 8" floppies.) The backup program wants to make (write) a bootable diskette. I want the backup program to write (make) a bootable diskette. The backup program in... |

The program wants to use the floppy drive for the restore diskette and this computer doesn't have a floppy. I've not been able to find a click to tell it to use th... |

You have taken the first step or two. Those are the hardest.
Climbing out of such a situation is similar to climbing a steep talus slope: two steps forward, one step slide back. Keep climbing, the view at the top is worth the effort. (How is that for trite? )

The thing is, you don't have to apologize to me. I was not aware of such until about 10 years ago, when one of the girls on the school bus I drove got me to thinking about it. She is full-blood Mexican-Indeo. I was always working on stopping the kids from teasing her about her background. Then, one ... |

at the end of the day, I love and value him for the person he is. At the end of the day - at the beginning of the day - in the middle of the day...let him know this. You will probably get only an "Ah, shucks, Mom" from him, but it counts. You don't have to tell him right out every time, and it is u... |

Our kids tend to be logical and literal - many discipline issues can go away simply by explaining why it shouldn't be done. Once a child like mine agrees with the goal, he works hard to model the behavior needed to get to it. But he can get tripped up by that literal thing, being unable to take wha... |

you've really given me something to think about. ^_^ Perhaps I spoke a little harshly in that post. I feel rather strongly about the subject. I am a "redneck" in the eyes of many around me. I've worked inside, at a design desk or a computer most of my life. I've worked outside, climbing radio tower... |

I think you handled it well,in appologising for your actions. I see only two things I'd have done differently: I would not have waited for the spitter to disappear before saying something tohim, calmly and rationally. I would not have lied to the driver of the pickup, but would have told him what ha... |

Actually, that "redneck" probably knew what you were trying to say, and the point you were trying to make. Yes, we take pride in the material things we own. Partly because we worked to get them and partly because they help us live the way WE want to live. That some of those possessions are also syno... |
