I was diagnosed at 15 (I’m 16 now), and yes, I felt a lot of relief! Before being diagnosed (and I think this is applicable for many of us), I was often labeled by teachers and even doctors and psychiatrists as “mentally disturbed,” “weird,” “disrespectful” (one teacher kept insisting that I was mak... |

Yes. I am severely limited in what I can wear due to sensory issues - clothes can be neither too tight nor too loose, absolutely no high collars, only certain fabrics, no too-stiff anything (but especially waistbands!). If I wear a "bad" piece of clothing for more than a few minutes, I feel like my ... |

No. I have been the oddball in question, and I know just how unpleasant it is to be "shunned" because people think there is something weird about you. I agree that you should try to make friends with the oddballs. They are usually some of the most interesting people (in my experience), and besides, ... |

Oh yeah, even to the present day. My current imaginary friend is a shape-shifting wildcat. Strangely enough, I have never had a human imaginary friend - they are always animals or mythical creatures. I can't even deal with made up people, I guess... Oh, and I also talk to him almost completel... |

I have a very hard time looking people in the eye. Until I was about ten or eleven and my parents insisted, I never looked anyone in the eyes at all. Now I can hold eye contact for up to three seconds if I am listening to someone talk. One thing that you can try is briefly looking at a person’s face... |

Lelia and Viola, I was just joking - I am not really keeping score, but if I was I would give you points anyways for being honest. My screen name comes from one of the shapeshifters (someone who can change from a human into an animal; in this case, a tiger) in the series of sci-fi books by Sergei Lu... |

After reading the posts on this site in anonymity for the past few weeks, I have decided that it’s about time to introduce myself. (Although now that I’m here, I remember just how bad I am at writing introductions - oh well, too late now!). I am a sixteen-year-old girl living in NC. I was just diagn... |
