Cheers guys I feel like I am slowly getting closer to 'the truth'... it's out there somewhere. Finding it difficult to come to terms with, being diagnosed as a 30yr adult. What does it mean for my career? What does it mean for my personal life? Relationships? Etc. But I'm just about holding my own a...

Well that makes sense ShadesOfMe thanks, I sometimes find myself checking something more than twice, but I usually think that's because I'm off in another world somewhere (or wish I was) and am not concentrating. Beginning to feel like a can of worms TBH. But it would make sense about my bro having ...

That's interesting Nights_Like_These I've often thought the same, but it goes against the whole genetic 'abnormal brain development' idea i.e. nature vs. nurture. I do often think though that I just happen to have a lot of the same characteristics of Aspergers and maybe it's just Social Anxiety that...

Quick question though - is MONK the same thing as OCD?

In almost all of my previous jobs I hated them so had no ambition to move on, even if it was for a bit more money as I knew I didn't want to make a career out of them. But now I have a job I enjoy and am working in the industry I want to stay in for the rest of my working life I was motivated... unt...

I am an undiagnosed high-functioning Aspie, I've been to see a therapist about 3 times now and after hearing what she said and reading stuff in books and on here I'm fairly sure I'm an Aspie. My older brother has OCD; is this genetically similar to AS? My uncle was a 'bit of a head-case' when he was...

The lesser-spotted Alex how are you?

Anyway, I'm not embarassed, it's not like I'm a pervert or anything, just wondered.

I know it's an old joke that masturbating makes you go blind, but other things like alcohol or marijuana kill brain cells and they stimulate the same part of the brain so... I think they all release similar chemicals in the brain don't they? Endorphins or Adrenaline or whatever... I'm a 30yr old vir...

Sometimes I have mini-meltdowns at work; towards the end of the day when I'm tired of trying to multi-task all day I get very irritable and my fake smile begins to wain/crumble. Its' then that I have to make a real effort to be polite to everyone, while the NT's find it easy/no effort required. That...

I really feel for you guys, I'm a male Aspie so I understand you sort of. I think it's great that you've been through these things and come out the other side with a different perspective on these events now you've been diagnosed with AS. What I mean is, you're not blaming yourself for them anymore ...

Makura and Callista I owe you both thanks, Yeah Makura that's kind of what I've been trying to do socially - I used to have this checklist of things I should do/try to be in social situations as a way of being more prepared for socialising & meeting new people but it never worked; socialising se...

That sounds a lot like me Makura, Especially at work, I create systems and priorities a lot, which is fine when things go to plan, but when the boss puts you in charge of doing a new job it all goes a bit awry. I also find I make almost obsessive notes about everything, because if I don't I forget. ...

Apparently we're good at creating systems and planning things meticulously (although I struggle when my plans go wrong), so maybe that's what I'll do. I keep thinking about going to university as a mature student (I'm 30 now), which my Dad thinks is a bad idea i.e. I'd be better just getting on with...

Oh man, that sounds just like me, except I'm still in the before stage of the mental breakdown... It's strange that you say a lot of your time at home is spent sleeping and staring into space as that's what I do, I often thought people would think I'm weird if they saw how I spent my days off; somet...
