Yes, we have to make changes to deal with NT worlds but our minds are so powerful that the average NT cannot envision your thoughts. Pish. You're not a super-being or a mutant. You've read too many comic books. However, being intelligent and having made a contribution is not something to put down. ... |

People with AS can think 'out of the box' because they were never in the box in the first place. LOL! I've been told I'm 'outside the box' so often in my life. I never knew what people were talking about... I was just coming up with solutions. Eventually I started saying something like what you jus... |

After reading through some of the latest rants on these forums I was sickened and sad. I walked away with the intention of never coming back. But, I couldn't do it without trying to put something in the balance, even though I am tired to death of having to battle against wrong-headedness and hate. T... |

I have 30 years of figuring out how to FAKE IT so I could try to fit in, 30 years of feeling like an outcast and a loser and being confused and wondering what was wrong with me. Still thinking I was normal. Now that I know, I can relax. I feel more comfortable in my head. And I know without a doubt... |

I can hear really high pitched noises, too. If the tv is on, but the sound is off, I can still hear it. When I was a kid I used to get a high-pitched ringing in my ears, but it hasn't bothered me for a long time. I also have to bring earplugs with me when I go to the movie theatre or concerts becaus... |

Usually jeans, and some sort of work-appropriate casual shirt.... I don't have a definite 'style', although I lean more towards granola. (Birkenstocks, tunic-style tops, etc) |

I catalogue books by the dewey decimal system... and keep my library books as ruler-straight as possible(: As a kid I liked to have neat bookshelves, and I lined my toys up. I also made hugely long and complicated genealogies for my plastic horses. Is that a particularly aspie trait? I never thought... |

I've been working on it for 25+ years now... and I've sort of got it down pat. I only get caught out on some combinations of social situations that I haven't 'catalogued for a response' yet. |

I just want to say that I was not trying to be an extremist, saying only this one carreer is good. I meant to generalize it more but i always end up with a long post. What I meant is that there are really carreer options that are not for aspies, and still you might want one of those options. For ex... |

The Uni's disability department got in touch a couple of days after I sent my application, and they gave a really good impression of the level of support I could get. I'm not likely to have financial problems, as I get more help with funding, so I was really hopeful that I'd be able to do this. . W... |

What will cause problems at work is coworkers thinking you're weird and ganging up to get you fired, or using you as a scapegoat to keep themselves out of trouble Or denying you promotions because you aren't constantly shaking hands and kissing ass. Been there. Done that. The new supervisor at my w... |

Your mom sounds like she cares about you (and perhaps isn't like Petunia Dursley- good ref. there), and if it is important to you and how you feel about yourself then you should definitely tell her. I'm a mom, and not knowing something important about my kid (and finding out later) would kill me. Ev... |

LOL! Talking about face-blind... I broke up a fight between what I thought was my neighbour's kid and someone across the street... and it turned out they were brothers. There I was, standing in the middle of the street, yelling for the (supposed) kid's mother... Very embarassing. I still get them co... |

Have problems getting through interviews? I did. Then I took a class on how to get through a job interview. It takes you way out of your comfort zone, but you soon begin to know what answers/cues the person hiring you is looking for. Maintain eye contact, too, as torturous as it may be. NTs always ... |
