I have a basic philosophy... Whatever it takes to get you through your life, be it Jesus or a rubber ducky. As long as you don't push it on me, judge me by your religious standards, or talk to me about it when I neither asked nor care. Religion is about faith, not science, you can't prove it you hav...

Ever since I started drinking in junior high school I have been a social drinker. I never was an alcoholic (maybe a functional one in college) but alcohol let me survive awkward social situations as a lot of people have said. I was also a major pothead in college - I used to say that smoking pot slo...

If nothing else after almost 2 decades of dating frustration, I have learned it is a raw numbers game . Especially for an Aspy, we just have to meet (and hopefully date) as many women as possible, and hopefully we find the rare one that we can connect with. I almost had one a few years ago, but our ...

wow, what a depressing thread, but I have to concur The only women I have ever dated seriously in my life (a whopping 3 at age 33) I knew as friends before we started to date. Unless it was a drunken hookup where social interaction is dulled by alcohol, I have had such a problem reading women in the...

you sound like me I did very well through undergraduate, then dropped out of law school - twice. Had a few unsuccessful jobs and lived with my parents for 5 years out of my 20s. I decided to go back to law school at 32. I am mature enough now, I know this is my last good chance to get back into the ...

I worked in the insurance industry for a few years - BAD field for an Aspy (although I did not know it at the time). I took one of those psychological profile tests developed by the insurance industry for salesmen before I started - scored very high on intelligence, extremely low on empathy. So low ...

I am a bit older than you, 33. Trust me, even if they are just superficial friends (which is what most of aspy friends tend to be anyway) you need to get used to dealing with people your own age. There has to be some college club you are interested in - political stuff, anything at all? When you joi...

The topic of this thread was "Trying to quit WOW." I figured that would make it clear I was referring to that genre of gaming. I said, and you quoted me on it: "MMORPGs have a unique ability to consume more and more of your life" I also said online games are not a substitute for flesh and blood frie...

I am referring to MMORPGs - EQ, WOW, and the like Gaming achieves nothing - it is a pure leisure activity and the MMORPGs have a unique ability to consume more and more of your life. The online friends you make may be nice, but they are no substitute for flesh and blood. They can't come over your pl...

I lost a few years of my life to both EQ and WOW, playing as an escape from unpleasant reality. And looking back to what was typical Aspy behavior - I rarely managed to stay in any guild for that long... I highly advise AGAINST playing those types of games - too easy to fall into the trap. Read book...

Hi folks, I am one of those blessed/cursed people. Intelligence off the scale, but the usual Aspy/ADHD social problems. I coasted through education because I was smart enough to, exceeding in areas I enjoyed and doing well enough in others. But I hit the brick wall in grad school and the real world....
