Seven years enlisted, US Air Force (1982-89), Maintained secure phones and data encryption equipment. Compared to most of my peers, I had it made. Asperger's didn't seem to adversely affect my performance; on the contrary, the intelligence it gave me was a big help! At the time, I wasn't too concer... |

I did 3 years for the IDF It was a nightmare , mainly because i saw too much action but also because of the sense of confinement and the almost total lack of control over ones life and choices the positive side of th... |

A brief summary: Weak central coherence Sees autism as a failure to integrate sensory information in a holistic or "gestalt" manner. I never talk unless I have to, and then I just say the minimum that I need to in order to get the point across. My whole life people have said that I was shy. So a few years ago I decided I was going to cure my shyness and joined this shyness group, but I immediately realized that those people were... |

Perhaps the "theory of mind" thingy reflects researchers lack of it because they can't get that some people may react differently to the same data, I see what NT see but i chose or forced to react differently because i'm wired to another set of values and motives and since NT are basicly egocentric ... |

it's very disappointing to see how many AS subscribe to views that degrade them. |

This eye contact thing seems to be a way for NT people to feel connected to the people they are speaking with. Perhaps it's the other why around and it is because AS,unlike NT's,got their eyes connected to the heart or/and ears stuff can get very noisy just by looking at it, That's why AS tend to f... |

Forcing an eye contact constitute an abuse, It similar to raping a child. If anyone of the so called pro's where willing to pay a little attention and make the effort to infer from the many known AS traits an identity the reasons behind the way AS managing their eye contact would be quite clear but ... |

Any aspies here in the military, or have had previous service? I assume anyone here would have found out they had AS afterwards, as I did. I don't think they'd let me in if I told my Marines recruiter, "by the way, I have Asperger's." Though I do have to say that it helped me out a lot in my person... |

It also sounds like a statement from the Ministry of the Bleeding Obvious to me that responsibility for change lies with the victimized and not only with the bully, but again - catch 22 - this necessitates c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-i-o-n, a thing i am not terribly good at, especially in emotionally charg... |
