Unfortunately there are so many pharmaceutical antidepressants on the market, its not likely marijuana would ever be approved as an antidepressant (even though it has none of the long-term side effects). Big Pharma does not like competition from Mother Nature.

Ask her to call you the 'vociferous malcontent', like Bill Hicks was Bill Hicks. My Hero. I think that's fairly normal. I'm a wallflower if its just a matter of casual socializing, but bring up something on which I actually have opinions and/or factual knowledge and you'll be wishing you knew how t...

The stupid thing about that notion is that one of the biggest problems we have in social interaction is PROCESSING. Its difficult to know how to interact in social situations when your brain takes a few nanoseconds longer to input and process all the data coming in from the conversation and the eye ...

Autism is not just a different way of looking at things, it is a neurological impairment. That means the lens through which you perceive the world is warped in comparison with what everyone around you sees and experiences. Thus, the term 'Pervasive' Developmental Disorder. Pervasive means it affects...

Oh, it makes all the difference in the world! I would never date a prissy, judgmental, self-righteous anti-smoker. I can't stand people who think that their personal choices make them superior to others, and that anal-retentive choices like not smoking guarantee them eternal life. I'd rather tongue-...

My sister has been diagnosed with Aspergers and while it is a relief to finally know what is going on she has used it as an excuse for everything from slouching to not following through on appointments. Yesterday I caught her in an outright, baldfaced lie-is that at all related to her Aspergers? Ap...

How do other people manage to survive so well and to not care at all about the lack of love in their lives? Often because they have had love in their lives in the past and learned the hard way that no matter how miserable you think you are, that unhappiness can be increased a thousandfold by intera...

I find chamomile to be effective for anxiety, but I do not believe herbs or vitamins can do anything to alter or lessen the neurological handicaps of autism. Unless you count marijuana dulling sensory input and decreasing social anxiety, but you can't use it all the time or you'd never get anything ...

What exactly makes the "special interests" of autistics/aspies "stereotyped and restricted"? STEREOTYPED in this sense I think means amassing facts as a picture of what something is, rather than being able to appreciate it in a more fluid and organic manner. STEREOTYPING the subject is seeing it as...

I think that's dishonest and a disservice to those for whom autism is a serious handicap. It trivializes the disorder and gives the public the impression that its no big deal. I worked for well over a quarter of a century and if your standard is recognition for quality work, I was very successful. O...

Biggest failure seems to be my inability to write things down correctly. For example, I missed an appointment sent to me via e-mail on account of me writing it down wrong on my personal calendar. Appointment was rescheduled. I wrote it down wrong a second time, missed it again, and got in trouble. ...

It just depends. Some things I can do by myself, no problem. Others, not so much. I have somewhere very important to be at this very moment and I can't go because the person who ought to be going with me won't answer their phone.

The entire United States government is living on credit and just raised their credit limit rather than balance their budget. They're just trying to scare people - the more terror you incite in the populace, the easier it is to convince them to do things your way when you promise to 'fix it'. The US ...

I lie when I feel that the person I'm talking to can't handle the truth. I lie to people who I know will judge me, because I know they cannot comprehend my reasoning. I lie to people who are hypersensitive and will take offense and/or choose to feel hurt over things that do not warrant the drama. I...

Your mother set you up on a date and then insisted on chaperoning. I would see that as 'sheltered', too.

Not a reflection on your personality, but on your situation. And your Mom. Maybe she's the one who should feel insulted.

For me, its usually about all I can cope with to deal with all the incoming sensory input when there are people bustling around and talking back and forth all around me. Even when its quiet, if I'm forced suddenly into a social confrontation in which I'm expected to initiate things, my brain shuts d...
