Philosophy of Psychiatry - Jennifer Radden Has anyone read this book? I think there are many thoughtful points in it. I would like to hear other readers' opinions on the essays, especially on these ones: Diagnosis/Antidiagnosis - John Stadler Evolutionary Perspective - Dominic Murphy Neurobiologica... |

Mainly words. I think in pictures when I remember events, or planning events (lika taking a trip with a sailing boat etc). When I think about what other people will say or think, I think their words. And this is what 90% of my thoughts are occupied with. (Unless I am surely alone somewhere for sever... |

I agree that good nutrition helps against Aspie symptoms. But that list... glutamine, is that the component of MSG? Good food for aspies is a good intake of proteins and saturated fat, like meat, butter and cream . Bad food for aspies is pop corn, chips, candy, vegetables, fish and white meat . |

OP seems to say , that Aspies generally are very modest, backs off easily, focuses on arguments and tries to treat the opponent with decency and respect. They have to become more arrogant and more self-assured, instead of focusing on the logic and arguments, to convince others. You seem to say , th... |

i have absolutely no idea what a dopper man is :). but i'd say a bit of both. i really hate sun but i do. really really love rain ^^ Lol ;) [Assuming you have Asperger]: Do you experience any "increase" in any of your Asperger symptoms when you are forced to be in bright sunlight? And if so, which ... |

You may win certain arguments, but you won't win long term respect. I find a lot more value in long term respect. With that, you can get to the point where the simple fact that it is your opinion carries a lot of weight. Where once you speak, it tends to be the last word. Even though you said it qu... |

It seems to me that Aspies already have enough problems with being seen as annoying or arrogant; using a power debate style will only make it worse. I don't think the majority of NT's like the OP's wife. Now we're talking! You have many interesting arguments. And I have some questions... :) First, ... |

hey all, i just thought i'd stop in and say i LOVE rain! Question to OP: Do you love rain, or do you in fact hate sun? Sun light increases dopamine. Asperger people often have high amount of dopamine (opposite to ADHD people who have low amounts of dopamine). It makes perfectly sense to avoid sun a... |

I am VERY good at winning debates and my style is pretty much OPPOSITE of what you have described. I won't engage in debate with someone if the goal isn't to increase knowledge on both sides. You seem to have a very luxury way of considering debates as something you can do in your free time, when y... |

You probably already know, that there are diagnose criterias , and symptoms . The diagnose criterias are often very few, are not changed so often, and are specifically chosen to enable ruling out other diagnoses. This means that the DSM-IV criterias are not at all a wide description of what constitu... |

yeah, what so we have no ambition of fitting in one day? We just come on here to insult the rest of the world and plot on ways to get revenge on them for having it so easy? I considered OP's post as a good advice to other aspies on how to "fit in" with other people. It is unfortunate if you conside... |

As a child: 1) Cigarette smoke. 2) Low-fat milk/youghurt/margarine. Pure cream and pure butter no problem. 3) Porridge without salt or too much salt. 4) Most kinds of candy, chips, ice-cream, pop-corn etc. As an adult: 1) SUN-LIGHT. It doesn't give me a shiver or make me feel ill - it just turns off... |

We have no control over where we are born yet we act as if living on this piece of land is better than living on that piece of land. I think there are several cases proving that living in one piece of land IS better than living on another piece of land. (North Chorea: one million people starves to ... |

3. Some people wanted MORE! WHO KNOWS WHY!?!?!? They built groups that attacked others, and took land by force. I think one of the reasons for initially taking land by force was to secure food production. In a primitive society people are hunting, and no one cares if the animals are killed to extin... |

OP: Are you criticizing nations or nationalism ? Nations are, in my view, mainly maintained to provide a law system. Not all people on this planet want to have the same laws. The alternatives to nations are therefore either to force laws onto some people not wanting them, or living in a world withou... |
