Perhaps embarrassing is the wrong word, because it's not that I particularly care about what other people think, I'm talking about things that make you feel a bit guilty about indulging in. Personally, I've spent the last week or so watching and rewatching every episode of "Merlin" that I can get my...

I have been into textile in earlier years, what kind of textile art are you into?

A variety of things really (that's the other problem.) Right now I'm doing a lot of shibori and quilting, but I also sew clothes, spin, felt, bind books, all sorts of things.

I'm trying to get myself signed up for medicaid and I'm trying to find a local organization that might be able to guide me through the paperwork. I'm hoping to qualify for an advocate through ARC, but looking through the websites of ARC compared with the local autism groups has me completely jealous...

I'm a textile artist myself, and while I'm very good at learning techniques and producing beautiful things, I'm absolute rubbish when it comes to marketing, shipping, and all the other aspects of being self-employed that don't have anything to do with actually making stuff. I was wondering if there ...

My rule of thumb is that if something is posted in text-speak, all caps, or grievously ignores the rules of spelling and grammar, it's the same as if it was posted in Russian or Latin. Yes, I took Latin in high school and could probably figure out what they're saying eventually, but if they aren't g...

I think it has a lot to do with how an interest fits into your life. I tend to have serial obsessions with various branches of the fiber arts, but that works out well because I'm a fiber artist, as are most of the people I know. As long as you confine talking about an interest to other people who sh...

I think it's horrible when kids get treated that way, but it's not always entirely the parents' fault. A lot of times they've been told by ABA practitioners and similar people that all stimming and other outwardly autistic behavior needs to be "corrected" immediately, and they don't know any better....

Not really. I'd never heard of Dear Aspie before, but I looked at it and it seems more like social advice for Aspies. AskAnAspie is mostly for NT parents and educators and answers questions about everything from sensory issues to school issues to (once) past perfect participles.

About the college student part: We don't ONLY accept college students, we just like to keep a college student vibe. People of all ages and educational statuses are welcome to send in applications.

Official d'xes help, just because we get annoying whackos sometimes who claim we aren't actually on the spectrum, but they're by no means required.

Some of you may have heard already about AskAnAspie.com, a website I and several of my friends started last year as a place where parents of Aspie/Autie kids could come and ask questions, and have them answered by panelists who were on the spectrum themselves. We were going pretty strong for a while...

Having said that, I would move heaven and earth to keep a religious element - even one which is generally open and tolerant towards all faiths - in schools in the UK, since I think that all religions have an ethos which adds value to a secular basis. Secularisation of life does not mean that religi...

It's possible that the outrage is underreported, but I'm still skeptical of that -- we've all seen the videos of Palestinians dancing in the streets on 9/11. Am I to believe they were all "extremists?" They looked like normal people to me. And I'd still like an explanation for why Islam claims such...

Please don't take offense at my questions but: I'm very curious (if you are a white Briton) as to why you chose to convert to Islam rather than explore your Christian heritage further. If you were "towards the atheist end of agnostic" why did you choose a very strident deist faith? My concern is th...

Global terrorism is almost exclusively a Muslim phenomenon, and, to coin the media's term, the "outrage" from mainstream Muslims on that topic has been subdued to say the least. Predominantly Muslim countries consistently have very poor human rights records and, while most individual Muslims are no...
