Just a quick progress report - I set my alarm for 4 am every morning. Actually three alarms: 3:58 (the one I shut off automatically), 4:00 (the one that I'm awake enough to register because the previous one woke me up halfway) and 4:20 (tells me when I can go back to sleep). So far, I have been maki...

I think a simple, "What the heck are you talking about!?" would be appropriate in this kind of situation. Then maybe offer to take her out for coffee after work to discuss what is obviously a very large communication gap. Actually, it sounds like she is projecting whatever drama she is going through...

Hmm. The thing about cortisol and stress hormones is interesting. It reminds me that I tend to focus well when I'm pissed off at somebody as well. In fact, I don't know how many times I've told my wife this, but when I'm really angry at somebody I find that I speak much better Japanese, especially t...

Has anyone heard of this before? Normally, I can't concentrate on a single thing for more than ten (okay, five) minutes at a time. Even now, as I'm posting on wrongplanet, my mind is already starting to wander towards the next two things I will be doing (or maybe I'll go back to the work that I just...

Why send a card at all?
Go have coffee with his family or something. Share their grief in person.
Cards are sent by people who won't make room in their schedules to grieve properly.

That's obviously not you.

I have a few rules pertaining to office politics that I try to stick to: 1. Always compliment in public and criticize in private. 2. Believe it or not, most people can't tell the difference between a fake smile and a real one as well as you can. Even if they could tell the difference, they probably ...

Get online and write the Consumerist, post on message boards, etc. about your experience as honestly as you can without being libelous or making your identity readily apparent. The weak point of anybody who treats you poorly and then has the audacity to fire you is that unemployed people have plenty...

How do you know it was done against your will? How old were you at the time? One? Out of the litany of offenses in your post, I'm sorry, but having you circumcised, especially in light of data that suggests circumcision actually helps prevent the spread of STDs like AIDS, comes across as a good thin...

Websites that use code/animation/effects or all of that, they use Javascript/AJAX or Flash, and of course CSS. You'll be better if you learn CSS, because HTML is horrible to mantain. CSS separates the code from the visuals, so it's easier to mantain and expand. Uhh.. uhhhh.. uhhh *Desperately raise...

If you show a negative reaction to this, misfit then all you'll do is validate the exclusion. What does that mean? It means if you get angry or do something negative in response, they'll just say, "Whew! It was a good thing we didn't invite HER! What a nutcase!" The best thing to do in this case is...

People like me and tend to favor my company. I am highly regarded by my peers. At first. Then something happens, and I still have no idea what that is, and then people stop calling. Stop laughing at my jokes. Start looking at me with just the finest tint of pity in their eyes. I'd kill to know what ...

Ha ha this is classic.
This is also how I learned to lie. The problem is learning how to stop, now that I've left the house.

Girls don't conspire to do anything. They're too busy fighting each other.

Do you think that maybe she's saying odd things because she's flirting? Girls do that sometimes. They'll saystuff just to throw you. Stick in there, and stay positive. But act like you already have a gf. Girls love that.

Wait. I read your other posts and I'm seeing a common thread here. Have you ever thought about getting checked for paranoia? It seems an awful lot of people are conspiring against you. First women and now the government. The government, I could buy. But women are too busy competing with each other t...

More on-topic, call me crazy, but I still see a possible link between vaccines and autism and little wrong with exploring alternatives. I mean, when I was vaccinated thirty years ago, I received WAY fewer chemicals and had them spread out over a longer time frame than what I'm hearing that kids toda...
