There's a Genesis tribute band called Musical Box that did an extremely accurate reproduction of the "Lamb" performance. I was lucky enough to see it a couple of years ago and it was a literal time-warp. They were endorsed by Genesis and Gabriel to the extent they were able to use much of the origin...

I mentioned Hackett in an earlier post actually - yep, if you like Genesis you would be mad not to check him out, I think his first four albums compete on equal terms - and they are unashamedly Prog. Genesis had a mountain of talent and produced three very successful solo careers (Gabriel, Collins, ...

Oh, you are another of those wishy-washy Deists.

It's no good refusing to be labelled I'm afraid, your own explanation is proof enough.

Still, I will wish you well.

It appears that you are saying it makes more sense to believe in god because science can't produce all the answers you require. At least science is clarifying the mysteries of the universe as our understanding improves. I think there are a lot more questions if a creator is involved, for a start, w...

Progressive Rock, Aircraft disasters, wrist watches, and rather worringly - WWII armoured vehicles (I tend to keep that one to myself).

I'm an aspie, and unless either detailed workings of how the mind works (not the physical brain, but metaphysical consciousness behind it) or proven evidence of why the Big Bang happened, I'll continue to believe in God. It appears that you are saying it makes more sense to believe in god because s...

Galigo: I was actually being sarcastic, I think the bible is nonsense. And I'm an atheist. Many theists take the bible quote for man being created in god's image literally (Jehovah's Witnesses for a start), although they are not happy thinking about god's wedding tackle or the functions of his diges...

The bible clearly states that Man was created in god's image, therefore he did have male reproductive organs. What he did with them however is not revealed.

Yep, Musical Box are spot on; watching them feels like going back in time. I've seen them reproduce "Lamb" and "Selling England" and they are superb. It would be interesting to hear from someone who can compare Musical Box to the original shows.

[quote="oscuria"] I firmly believe that the best irrefutable evidence for God is based on experience. The skeptic will think these are mere tricks of the mind and I would consider him foolish for doing so. This is a very naive opinion; personal experience has long been known to be unreliab...

It's very difficult to understand someone who professes to be Catholic and a supporter of LGBT rights; the bible is very specific about god's judgement of practising Homosexuals. While I'm on the subject, I've noticed a lot of voters claiming to be believers without an allegiance to some sort of org...

Blimey, I was tickled pink to see that 66% of the voters were Atheists - until I saw that there were only three votes dammit.

To me, the fact that we are here IS the proof that life exists elsewhere (well, virtually). However, I do not think they would be the slightest bit interested in visiting us. The chances are that any observing Alien civilisation would be unimaginably advanced, and would not be needing anything we co...

Yes are my favourite, but have to agree a lot important bands left out here; how about Jethro Tull? Oh, and Rush are Prog of course; tons of lengthy instrumentals, dorky lyrics about black holes and the like, unusual time sigs, stop / start, loud / soft etc, and single handedly responsible for a who...

I always felt that Steve Hackett leaving was the start of the "new" Genesis, and in all honesty I think they should have called themselves something else; I really didn't like what I was hearing, and it was not the same band IMO. Yes and Rush also changed to a more commercial sound at the end of the...

Tricky...the first three are all fab (!), and the last three are the weakest (although they're still not that bad), but I'll have to go with TMWTGG as the best and Octopussy bringing up the rear.
