I have also learned to listen to other people rather than go on and on about the things that interest me. People even think I'm a GREAT listener. Haha.... tell me about it. :) But I do actually listen to them and focus the best I can on what they're saying, turns out pretty well. Especially compare...

Hello Owen, I believe I can understand your situation. From what you said - it seems to me that it's pretty likely you're an Aspie. However, you may also want to think about two things, you haven't listed, that Aspies have in common (I'm not a doctor - I might be mistaken, please correct me if you k...

Wow... Well, I feel like saying that... well, it's nice that your parents were trying to care about those problems, but... uhm.. I can't really say I envy you. Sounds like you had some quite tough moments with your parents because of this - especially the fact that your parents were pushing you to h...

(I'm a girl btw) Yeah, you're right, it can't really be defined by a set of characteristics. I just listed the ones that I've noticed most repeated in my research. And in all honestly, I'd be a hypocrite for disliking someone for voicing their opinion. ;) I'm not sure about lack of empathy being th...

I wouldn't trust those tests. I am an aspie medically diagnosed at age 12, and I have taken several of those tests, some which said I was and some said I wasn't. Most of the stuff in those tests I found was only really relevant to children, not aspie adults - thus the non-diagnosis. I do think (fro...

Ethnar I'm Polish too and I can tell you that I no longer believe that I will ever meet a competent psych in this country. met a bunch of them and they all sucked and didn't know the first thing about ASDs. or any other disorders apart from depression as far as I have seen. Thanks for assuring me I...

(...)I knew I don't act like other people but I didn't see it as a negative thing before, at times I even thought that everyone else is stupid and many things they do is pointless/doesn't make sense.(...) Damn, I feel the same thing... :) I wouldn't have to punish myself for being so lame at times ...

Great Scott! Uhm... hi? I never told that my name is Scott and it's not true anyway. You got me confused here. You really describe yourself as I usually describe myself! I live in Brazil, here we have a lot of problems about doctors, therapists et cetera... they are dumb: have a lot of work to do, ...

We can't offer a diagnosis, only a qualified therapist can do that. Sadly, in Poland I can't hope to meet qualified therapist. Also, I find it hard to listen to any doctor, seeing all mistakes they are doing (it's not only in health care, but as medical knowledge is still really vague, it's a major...

because the only difference between what you explained as yourself, and me, is that I am into Computer Sciences, and Computer Hardware. Bah, not even here we differ much - I was studying Computer Science for 4 years. Anyway, there's one thing that I doubt. I think I may not be that heavily committe...

I know you've already read such question over and over again, by many people, but I really hope it's partially that's why WrongPlanet was founded, to help people determine it. Today I read wikipedia article about Asperger's syndrome and found out (incorrectly?) that most of symptoms described there ...
