I suppose I am high functioning. I have a great career, take care of my own home, have (mostly successfully) raised my children. I was even a long term caregiver for a family member who eventually died. Which was the most horrible stressful thing you can imagine. On the down side my marriages/romant... |

Regarding coping advice for your husband. He should keep to his normal routine as much as possible. Since he works now, probably continue working through your hospitalization but take a couple hours of day of sick time for a visit. Spending time on self-care is important. Continue to indulge in hobb... |

I was a caregiver to my late husband through a 10 year illness until his death. as you can imagine it was an exceedingly stressful decade. I also worked and raised children during that time. My lifeline was an organization called Well Spouse. They have an online forum where I could talk, receive and... |

The best revenge is living well. I never really got back at my school bullies. I simply performed better, got a great education in my chosen field and turned it into a great career. The one bully boss I had fired me, so I got a better job, and that company went bankrupt a couple of years later. That... |

I'm an Aspie and so is my son, so we struggle sometimes with communication. My son is recently out on his own to go to college and he is asserting his independence. I understand that, but he is doing something that is driving my crazy and I could use some advice. He is growing his hair long and does... |

We have gone on family cruises and both my son and I are aspies. Since I tend to get seasick significant rocking of the boat is not a good thing for me. However, we have found it to be a fantastic vacation for us. Cruise lines are very accommodating when you let them know ahead of time what your nee... |

I sometimes had that experience when I was a child and through my teenage years. It was very unsettling when time seemed to go by twice as fast as normal. My own actions during this time were at normal speed (objectively speaking), but they felt very fast. I remember trying to explain it once to my ... |

Hi, I’m Melody. I moved to the Seattle area four years ago from California. My youngest child is graduating from high school and will be off to college soon. I was widowed five years ago. My late husband was sick for more than a decade and I was his caregiver. It was a miserable marriage, but it is ... |

I walked on the balls of my feet when I was a kid. I remember going to physical therapy because people were concerned about my acheilles tendon shortening. That was in the days before Asperger's was a common diagnosis, but it is one of the things that convinced me that I am aspie. |

Ditto to this one. I don't know why but that sound is just horrid to me - except when it is me brushing my own teeth. |

My hair has a simple bob cut. It is dark, thick and wavy so it tends to be unruly. I blow dry and straighten it most days. After years of trying different cuts I finally found one that looks OK and isn't too much trouble to take care of so I am going to stick with this style. |

I sometimes gesture with my hands as I have conversations inside my head. My family finds it quite amusing and ask me what the conversation is about.
I think this is a human thing, not an aspie thing. The default condition of the human brain is daydreaming, which can often be conversations. |
