Thanks Voxish. Even the name of a few titles would be enough. I just wonder if there are any books specifically for someone diagnosed as an adult.

Hi. I don't post much. But I'm wondering for those who received their diagnosis as adults. Which books did you find most useful in terms of clueing you in on how the non-aspergers world works? Eg. Expaining social cues, tacit elements of social interaction etc.

Here's a blog I read where the writer says he doesn't think his mate has aspergers and his mate thinks he does. Bit of a serious one but it's usually pretty funny.

I used to look in the mirror loads. Someone told me it's to do with affirming your mental image of yourself so I consciously tried to limit the amount of times I did it. I don't notice it as much any more.

Not sure. I'm in the north and it's taking ages. Get some advice of the autistic society on how to go about it.

I couldn't see a thread for youtubes so I thought I'd start one. Here's a link to my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/MyPunkGang Firstly, there's strong language in a few of these so not for the kiddies (only some of them mind). Secondly I'm still unsure about whether or not I have aspergers, so...

Use words that have two meanings eg talk about how someone thinks they are deep mentally/spiritually then compare them to a puddle's physical depth.

It sounds like either a clumsy way of getting you to say more or a bit of hen pecking. You're best just saying something short and funny as a response. Something like "wait til I've had a few drinks". If you get visably annoyed they'll just resent you especially if they were just making a joke (albe...

One thing I will say that is even more conclusive and more of a shortcut - when you read about Asperger's do you have a big feeling of OH MY GOD - relief? recognition? amazement that "Someone else does that totally unique weird thing that I never tell anyone about?" I felt that in huge quantities w...

Hi I'm from Ireland. I write, mostly poetry and short stories. I read a lot and play guitar. I've started posting here because I'm curious about whether I have aspergers or not. I fit some criteria and not others so I'm basically wanting to talk to aspies and see if they think I have it. I'm at a st...

I'm not so bad when I get there, but I can't fly alone and I can just about tolerate short boat journeys (2 hours). The travelling part is the bit that gets me.

I have a lot of the other traits to do with social interaction; things like beyond a smile or frown I can't read facial expressions. I used to never look people in the eye when I spoke to them. I used to sometimes just not talk to people. I remember at primary school the headmaster being called into...

Thanks for the feedback. I'm giving this a bump because I'd like to get more opinions even if people just click to vote on the poll. Thanks.
