This is hard flutter, I feel shame for speaking against my dad. But here goes.... my dad was an idiot, other times he was a scary and drunken bully. He always had an overblown sense self entitlement. He was a dirty and disgusting old man. He abused and put down my mother. Other times he was sexually...

Your topics of interest....seem interesting.
I have heard of cartessian dualism, but I can't remember the context.

People are individuals and I treat them as such.

Some one said Loyalty is not a virtue..... I don't know, I guess I have a loyalty to my family, but maybe you are right. Perhaps it is best to judge people on their actions rather than some sense of a will to support based on loyalty.

Seems fair enough.... make him work to re-establish a relationship with you .... However having said this, my dad was abusive, he is not the type you want to confront. But ... deep inside he is sad. In a subtle way, check with your mum to see how he is coping with the break in your relationship. Cou...

Ah ok, enjoy what little you can! I have read too many conspicuous articles linking Nightshades to Arthritus and switched to yams, taking diet too far perhaps.

Not if it works. My joints are sore at the moment, wheat and milk makes my joints ache.

Can you eat vegetables and fruit mechanicama? Fruit is a very good instant food. Also - I buy gluten free bread and I toast it for lunch - putting vegemite on it - yummy and filling. I can tolerate pumpernickel bread well, again toast with lemon butter, good breakfast food. I can eat vegetables and...

No idea, she doesn't make sense. I don't think her behaviour is related to having a more neurotypical brain.

Maybe she is simply stressed due to money problems, and not behaving rationally.

Don't risk letting fees build up on a canceled card.

You have just read that sentence without the slightest real care for that low level description. In fact, you have jumped through several level: individual photons... enough, ...

I can only assume that people feel somehow threatened by the idea that we are not the pinnacle of evolution. Closing one's mind to a possibility does not necessarily make it go away. I don't feel threatened by the idea that we are not the pinnacle of evolution. I realise computers are intelligent a...

I harbor very little doubt that computers will functionally exceed our own abilities, at least in terms of problem solving, proof writing, hypothesis testing, strictly formal verbal expression, etc. (anything that is not art), within this century. And there are plenty of experts who would agree. Ev...

In regard to the OP's question.

My thoughts: Our consciousness is due to the intricacy and extensive development of our neurological wiring. Computers are pretty straight forward in comparison.
