Based on discussions with the professional who diagnosed me (who I am pretty sure has AS himself). -Either you are on the spectrum or you are not, there is no gray area between normal and AS. This has something to do with the makeup of the prefrontal cortex. -Some people are milder than others -AS i...

I think I am also lucky. I think my psych also has AS, but I haven't asked him directly yet and it's been almost a year. Very smart man. I've been to the point of doubting him on a couple occasions, but he seems to know his stuff. I've called him Mr. Miagi (Karate Kid) becuase, like Mr. Miagi, he wo...

In addition, I think it's further obvious that I'm married, and I should be allowed to make any generalizations I feel like making about men as I have to deal with one 24/7. IF that includes some male bashing humor, if you men can't handle it, go watch some football, break something and pretend to ...

...they say you can't change a man, but if he's really in love, you can. You shouldn't attempt it though as they hate that (male domination freudian ego I suppose) early on in a relationship, and you really don't need to change him unless you have kids. Parenthood is a whole different ball game, bu...

...You can't really ever expect him to be happy about being pulled away from his interests, but he should be able to learn to see the bigger picture and put them aside temporarily. And "temporarily" is the key for me, at least. I tell myself that I will do the dishes / laundry / mop / pay bills / e...

I have all sorts of memories that make me cringe. I also play potential scenarios in my head (such as having a car crash) the consume me, and make me cringe as well. I don't worry about the scenarios so much as they feel almost real as played in my mind, so I cringe.

AnAutisticMind- Your story sounds familiar to me, though I am in my 30's. I was recently diagnosed, but I think I am generally a mild aspergers (so take what I say with a grain of salt). I have thought about the question of having support when I was younger and how it might have changed things for m...

pandd... Fair enough, I am just translating what I saw on the discovery channel. The personalities on the show were supposedly the top experts, and the show was from last year. Not to say that you are incorrect, and I am actually curious from where you have gotten your information. In any case, if t...

I just saw the show Brink on the Science Channel... for you non-Americans, that would be one of our 18,976 television channels. Anyways, some expert offhandedly stated that the swine flue is no more deadly, at the moment, that typical flue viruses, statistically speaking. Then they moved on to talk ...

Mixtli, chimps teach their young. This necessarily requires advanced theory or mind as I understand the concept. Chimps engage in advanced political behavior, requiring sophisticated theory of mind. I am dubious of Discovery Channel's claim in this regard. It is not plausible. Well, I admit I am ge...

Whoah, ...seriously. Okay, collecting myself. Now, please don't hold it against me if I admit that I simply skimmed some of the later posts. Chaw, I got the general idea from your first couple of posts; and as you ask forgiveness for your incongruities, I'm asking for yours as well as I've had a gla...

/\ temple grandin, once said that without us we would still be living in caves talking to one another. I know I've seen her say that... it was at a seminar she gave. I downloaded it on the web at one point. She was being glib, but also making a point. However, I think one subtext of her comment is ...
