I have often seen numbers as colours and textures too and was always fascinated by them as a child. I particularly loved car numberplates and could (and still can) remember all the numberplates of the family cars we had when I was at home. I only have to see a numberplate once to remember it even to... |

Every time I try to explain it she will be like 'well how are you going to be in a job?' As if that has anything to do with anything. I need to word it properly: "I am not like you. I prefer to be on my own. This doesn't mean I dislike you but it's how I cope with stressful situations." So much eas... |

I am another who likes to please or help people whenever I can. I think its also an aspie thing of wanting to connect to people and having a strong sense of justice. I am also learning to try and save some energy for myself and to try and please myself more rather than putting myself out or keeping ... |

Hmmm sounds interesting. If thats what you want to do, then great just proceed with caution and make sure you get all the facts before submitting to treatment as there could be some nasty unwanted side effects. Good Luck tho and keep us updated on your progress. |

I must admit I have not heard of the ugly-aspie stereotype either. As said in posts above, aspies look pretty much like NT's and vice versa. There is no physical trait that makes us stand out. I have not always been fashionable, in fact i was teased at school about my dress sense, but these days I h... |

I am terrible with feet flapping. I do it all the time, i will often shake my leg, tap my foot on the floor, tap it against my other foot, and rub my foot onto a cold surface or table leg. I do this at work when in meetings, because as said in other posts in this thread I guess it is less noticeable... |

Ive always been different so was happy to finally have a name for being so different when I was diagnosed. Everything finally started to make sense! :D I wouldnt say that I have ever been ashamed of my aspergers, it can certainly frustrate me at times, but then I guess life in general can do that. I... |

I often go through phases with being good and then bad or demotivated with house work. Generally my house is clean and tidy and my mum will often help out or suggest that I need to do certain things such as cleaning the fridge or bathroom. I have learnt over the years to look after myself with help ... |

I am not keen on talking on the phone, but have learned to do it well enough for work purposes. I would much rather chat to someone on msn or via text I also hate answering machines as i never know what to say after the beep, that I get flustered and then hang up without having said anything.. |

Yes - my friends do this all the time. Which I guess has its good and bad points, as I often need pointing in the right direction, but it can be frustrating for me at times too. When I lived at home, it was also often assumed by visitors that my sister was the eldest much to her disgust! (she is 18 ... |

Am very pleased you have gotten a diagnosis and can now try and learn a bit more about Aspergers and the Aspie community in general. :D A diagnosis was also very important to me, as it meant I finally not only had an official word for the way in which I saw the world as I was aware it was much diffe... |

I was nervous about telling my family and friends when I was diagnosed with AS. It was a relief when most of my closest friends just said that it made sense and that I was still me. Our relationships have not changed, infact I think they just look out for me more these days & can be protective o... |
