I think she needs to consider the words she spoke at the wedding service and meet you half way, mate... perhaps if she'd learn something about AS, she'd help her son and her marriage much better than passively encouraging him stigmatising you for what he has too. I think this is incredibly unhealthy...

Jingo, you sound like you're in a right downward spiral :( They're hard to put the brakes on but if you look round the folk who have run, you'll often see that the problems are still there, just with different surroundings. Don't feel you have to live up to other folks expectations on how you relate...

[quote="Fnord"]"What benefits do you derive from your religion?" I adapt the best & most admirable influences from religion & nature to help me develop as a person 2. "What drawbacks do you find to your religion?" It's solitary- I will never find someone who has a completely empath...

Tis lovely to hear that there's so many pagan aspies out there :) seems to me religion means a lot to many of us and we're much more inclined to develop our own path of beliefs rather than slavishly following others' religous rulebooks. Seems to be a respect for other religions as well... I'da thoug...

I think my unbreakable nicotine addiction is akin to a stim after over 30yrs of it- I'd love to get free but I'm so dependant on it that I get wierd when I try to stop. It's kinda part of a russian roulette of my depression.... I can't commit suicide to get away from the painful parts of life so I k...

I'm another 6 foot redhead and a bonny lassie! I wasn't invisible but would often be shunned by folk I wanted to approve of me until i had a truly beautiful freind, 6', tawny golden hair like a lions mane... and it made her life soooo hard. Our 'social disability' is nothing compared to the trauma h...

I haven't a full dx either (I display 'Traits', apparently, which sounds more venereal and infectious rather than cerebral and genetic!) but it helped my sons dx to have a list of all the things I noticed with approx times, patterns etc. That forms a good basis to have something to work on too to de...

My skin was awful until I stopped using soap and used brushes instead- I find there's just enough shampoo and conditioner in the bathwater to get clean. I make massage bars too using beeswax, lavender oil, veg oil and cocoa butter which I use after a bath to seal in the moisture, but my probs were d...

Real glad to have been able to read your conversation, gels! Not just me having a crisis then... I've lost all the areas of *me* in being what I was expected to be- and cringing inside at my inability to fulfil those roles fully. It's a blur when the kids are babes but grab those minutes duri...

I was having a search around Amazon and noticed there's a couple of new books listed which deal with employment & Aspies... I think one was by Luke Beardon who's very well thought of here in Middle Englandshire. Maybe your local support group/ similar might buy some for the good of all? I've bee...

As a 6 foot tall redhead, who needs a man to lug furniture?! I rebuilt landrovers and drove them like I meant it off road, maintained my motorbike and lost most of my male freinds round the country bends on it.... got called 'mate' a lot and giggled when their eyes slid southwards and they'd go, 'oh...

Awww, thx, Strangegem, it means a lot to me. Things are a lot more sorted now, we've turned the corner and if it happens again, which I doubt cos Husband seems to be raking it on board & working hard at changing the way the power balance and communication happens, looking at handling his stress ...
