Falls into the "what-the-hells-wrong-with-me" type responses. Just thought that life was composed of high highs and low lows. That's just how life is, isn't it? After a few decades seemed like something was always just a little off-frequency. Thought it might be an only child thing. Thought it might... |

Ex-Wehrmact General Guderian wrote his biography and explained why Hitler thought the USSR was vulnerable. In the winter of 1940, Soviet forces attacked Finland. Despite overwhelming superiority of men, tanks, planes, and artillery, the Red army was defeated in several battles along the long Finnish... |

A soft leather glove is the very best thing to open jar lids. Most of the problem is getting a grip on the metal. Soft leather on metal just will NOT slip at all. All force is applied to opening. Old gf of mine complained about this. Gave her one of my driving gloves and she opened it right up. No p... |

I don't think "normal" is the right word for moi.
But it's not abnormal either.

Ephy, I've heard it called hyperlexia. Some of us have it, some don't.
Welcome to the club. Mine usually manifests in person. It gets really good if I've been provoked. Friends actually find it entertaining.

You may be onto something. 1.) Been attracted, intensely, to music all my life. 2.) Hearing has always tested perfect. 3.) Many times I've been able to hear phones ringing by hearing the different frequency--while at band practice. Phones in the same room with 80 decibel noise. 4.) At a specific ban... |

Good point. Allrighty then, I'll go out on a limb; by 2020 we'll be seeing walking, talking things. Programmed people. In another ten years, we won't easily be able to tell the difference. Fnord, I liked that other avatar you had. It gave off just the right vibe. Why the new one? (if you don't mind ... |

Predicted this several years ago. Was only a matter of time. The combination of robotics, miniaturization, artificial organs, and increasingly sophisticated computers all points in one direction; fembots.

I remember you NTchick. You gave some good advice. Allrighty then, is there an easy way to tell if an NTchick doesn't care too much what others think? I do keep in mind that we all, to some extent, care what others think. After all, most of us do wear clothing in public, urinate in private, and don'... |

I think if there's any hope, it lies with people realising that it's all about learning to share and not just grabbing indiscriminately. Life sucks without mutual trust and respect. But all I see is this adverserial nonsense. Thank you. The idea of genders being us-versus-them is insanity on a vast... |

My theory is that monotone voice is a reliable and easy way to test for aspieness. My theory is that, despite high intelligence and a lifetime of experience I can only speak for myself, and that making an assessment of others, with only their posts on an internet forum to go by, is, at best, invali... |

After several abortive attempts lately (hey, I'm new to this too) I have developed a patterned response; Give them an aspie stare, feel amused about it, and tell them, in a low tone, "I'm WEIRD." This is a message anyone can understand. It will alleviate all difficulties, or they will go away and le... |

My phones; No answering machine on my landline, which is an old-fashioned, normal phone. If it rings, I pick it up. If I don't want to talk to whoever is there, I hang it up. If they don't like my brusqueness, too bad. Don't call me again. My cel is reserved for special callers, even though I can st... |

Most of my life I had no idea what was happening or why. Given that, the only choice was to observe, understand, and plan. The things described in this thread by others, I've experienced too. HOWEVER . . . Over the years and decades, without really knowing what I was doing, I developed coping mechan... |
