I would try shadowing a paralegal for a while at an office. I would suggest this to people considering many different careers, actually. |

I enjoyed parts of high school, like band/orchestra classes and biology. Most of high school was a waste of time because I had no interest in class and I didn't have the capability to develop my social skills the way most people do. I did that in college instead. I ended up graduating high school a ... |

This is really tough. I think this is one of those issues that may need to be addressed repeatedly until your family finally gets it, like it was with mine. Your life may not be what they were hoping you'd have, but if it is fulfilling and it makes you happy then I think they should be happy for you... |

My two longest/closest friendships are with younger women, and I met them back in high school. Socially and developmentally I was at a level closer to theirs. My best friend from when I went to grad school in an unfamiliar town is six years younger than me, and neither of us feels weird about it. Ma... |

Excellent! I hope this new school environment is good for you. High school is hell for many of us, but that doesn't mean it can't be ever be a good experience. I hope it's a good experience for you. High school classes were at least more interesting. I took lots of science and music classes! |

I'm a natural blonde and I have AS. We're such a diverse group that I think our hair colors represent what society looks like as a whole. |

Autism specialist/university professor. Not only do I want to help people like me function more easily with neurotypicals, I want to educate neurotypicals and really make them see that we're not all what they see in movies. I'm on the path already! I'm a school-based SLP. Second choice would be emer... |

I failed my second semester of high school chemistry. I was very, very lucky to have taken and passed three other lab science classes, because you had to have three years' worth of lab science to graduate. I got an A in biology that same semester. |

MR20, life is what you make of it. If you're determined to be unhappy, you're going to stay unhappy. I've been there myself. None of what I have in my life was easy for me to get. NONE of this came because I was pretty or came from a good family or had superior social skills, or any of the things yo... |

Yes. And I've mostly stopped trying to explain myself, because that only leads to (more) trouble.
Even my boyfriend, who lives with me and can read me very well, often doesn't quite understand what it is I'm trying to say. At least he's patient enough to listen while I try to repair the breakdown. |

Quality control/inspection! You could also get trained as a medical transcriber and work from home. You can do any job with Asperger's as long as you have the qualifications for it. Part of it is not writing off the job because you don't see it as aspie-friendly. Customer service and fast food are n... |

Stalking is not normal behavior for anyone regardless of whether they have an ASD. I have been stalked by someone who was also supposedly an aspie. This person clearly had psychological issues beyond having AS. . What you are doing is creepy and potentially dangerous. If I were in your ex's position... |

I actually really love perfume, but only certain kinds. I don't like anything alcohol-based. All of my perfume comes from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, Possets or I Hate Perfume. It's all oil-based and I put it on lightly. I find that certain smells are really calming to me, so I wear them. I don't sla... |

can't you update your knowledge? On my own? Probably, with the right medications. Regardless, saying that I "taught myself this and that" is unlikely to impress anyone. You need to have proof that you actually studied something or earned a certificate of some sort. Community college? You can get di... |
