Hi there! I am an NT trying to understand more about you folks. Full disclosure: I work for the "evil empire" of Autism Speaks. But! I am not here on any part of them. If anything, I am incredibly unimpressed by the party line. I would love to chat with any of you to get a better idea of what it is ...

From the diagnostic side, we have a really high ratio of males with ASD to females with ASD. Even at the twin level (which we have a number of) the likelihood of two male twins being on the spectrum is significantly greater than male/female twins. Though the numbers I am familiar with did not differ...

It is a struggle, regardless of being Aspie, Autie or NT. Personally, I developed a requisite minimum level of comfort/etc for myself, and while I am under that level I am responsible only for myself. Once at or above that level, I allow myself to extend and help others more freely. Those I know bet...

I can sometimes pick up on sarcasm but I don't know what double sp...

So is it primarily in the social arena you encounter the major differences? Are you seeing social cues and interpreting them in a way that makes sense to you, but not most NTs? Or is it just missing them altogether? Are non-vocal cues like body language harder to pick up on than subtleties of tone (...

Hi there. So, I have what may be a bit of an odd request. A bit of background from me first. About 6 months ago, I got a job with a subgroup of everyone's favorite organization: Autism Speaks. (For the record, neither I nor anyone else I work with is happy with the way things are being run.) Now, ot...
