I would go for a work up, because your child sounds EXACTLY like mine at that age. We're getting official results this week but he's been getting OT for Aspergers because the OT, Pediatrician, school OT, social worker, and speech therapist all think that that's what he has (but they won't give me a ... |

I've struggled with this myself. I'm a 37 year old woman, married twice, have 3 stepchildren and 2 biological children. I'm often told that physically I don't look my age, but OTOH, I can no longer wear the really 'young' clothing because it just looks wrong on me. I suspect I'm a bit Aspie, my son ... |

I just think that men and women are self centered in different ways. Women, I think, tend to lean toward the emotionally self centered. Men, on the other hand, tend to lean toward the 'life goal' self-centered. In either case, well, everyone has an ego. And when I say 'self centered', i think I mean... |

I'm trying to figure this out....you don't have affection for him, so was he a friend or a dating-type friend? If it's physical affection you're talking about, did you have a frank discussion with him prior to writing him the note? I mean, I definitely think it's bad to be a pity friend, but typical... |

Do you live in a town where you can find an OT that might know of an existing social skills group? Our OT just started one and it's for parental support and social skills for the kids. Also check towns within 20 miles or so....you might find something..... |

oooh, that sounds rough. For such instances, I try doing what my OT suggested and for a few days, every couple of hours, have him do something that might help the compulsion go away (in this instance, maybe give him a squishy ball to squeeze 20 times every 2 hours). I don't know if that would help, ... |

the heck with them. you have enough on your plate to deal with! if you really feel the need to say something, i like the supernanny comment. it's your child, and it sounds like you're a good parent. take a deep breath, chin up, and move on.......do what's right for you and your child and let other p... |

I would tell. It can only help the teachers/staff, but so many of them don't reaaly understand Asperger's so maybe you could provide them with a couple of books on ways to interact with Aspie kids. You definitely should look into what the school can offer as far as services go.....we just started go... |

i just wanted to say that i'm sorry things are so tough right now....i'm wondering if the apparent worsening/regression is due in part to the therapies he's getting? My son seems to have setbacks before he makes improvements....and I know that's common with some aspects of OT, like audiotherapy........ |

Since I just really started dealing with this myself, I'm no expert, but being slight aspie and blunt myself I just tell people that my son has Asperger's. Usually it's met with a quizzical look but at least thy usually say "What is that, exactly?" People tend to be more patient if they have some in... |

that's our whole life. We'll go up to 6 weeks wsith minimal issues, then suddenly have two weeks of meltdowns, noise sensitivity, bedwetting, etc. I still haven't figured out exactly what the trigger is. |

Hello all! I'm a mom to a seven year old who was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and just was diagnosed by the school with either ASD ar Asperger's (I'm finding out on Friday). We live in a fairly small town, no support groups, and though I know there are other parents in town with childr... |
