Lucy: Quite possibly, as your daughter gets older, she'll be fine. Take some sanity breaks. I know as a parent of an Aspi, and an Aspi myself, that both positions can be very difficult, however, your daughter will probably be okay, and possibly be a very successful adult. As others above have said, ... |

Most people don't realize that cats have very deep feelings. Right now, I'm working on a new computer. My cant knows it's time for me to be in bed, and for her to be curled up by my head. She is not a happy animal. In fact, I will probably put this down and go to bed, because that's where she is use... |

I had to have a cat put to sleep. It upset me so badly for 2 or 3 weeks that my wife finally said "I know it'll be hard to replace the one you lost, but let's try." The "replacement" has now been with us for 18 years, and I'm beginning to dread what's going to happen to her, but all you can do is as... |

The trouble with living a fantasy is that you either have to go all the way away, or drift in and out, and if you go all the way away, there's sometimes a good chance that you won't come back. Most drugs don't do much, and if they do, they're usually pretty dangerous. Life can be interesting. I admi... |

My cat means a great deal to me. My family knows it. I think that would be major if I were on a trip and something happened to her. Most people don't bond with animals. Some of us do. I wouldn't be angry at your family. I don't blame you for missing your cat. I'm sorry to hear she died. Beentheredon... |

maybe that's just the kind of a person she is. No drama there, though. Not very interesting. But reality never is.

slowmutant, why defend Jenny? Look, I know she's trying - but shes a layman, not a scientist! An average, every-day person - albeit with that foolish celebrity notion people attach to anybody they know of - but she has no authority! Trying doesn't count for jack sh** if you end up causing more harm... |

Basically, you're talking about reality Vs Drama. No one wants to watch reality. They live it, and sometimes it's not easy. When they come to be entertained, they want drama. Drama has to be engineered. That's the difference.

Hans Asperger was working in 1944 (I was born in 1942). He was working in an extremely restrictive environment (for those of you who remember what was going on in 44 in Europe), and he was using tools that today wouldn't be considered tools. This is not exactly a criticism. This is another century. ... |

First, and most dangerous, it leaves you open to getting ostiopesosis. (sorry about the spelling) ever wonder why it's a woman's disease? It can't get started in the presence of testoserone. (check that with a doctor...I know what I'm talking abou0t. Second, it won't reduce the sex drive. Third, it'... |

Maybe it's me....go ahead and flame away.....but I find a good part of this thread to be an extremely sad commentary by a group of people who should know much better, having experienced some of this stuff from the other side first hand.
Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

I also notice that they have no place for public comments. I just love it when "well intentioned" people get into things they know nothing about. They know very little about research, have only listed Jenny M, not the researchers who are doing the work, or to whom they have submitted RFPs, and when ... |

I've kept largely quiet on this in spite of my lack of respect for Jenny McCarthy (where did she get her training....exposure to a broad group of autistic people....and so on and so forth). Also, if you look at the front page of the site, you'll see that Alex has posted an interview with a young act... |

You know, as much as I generally don't agree with that Savage person, I kind of wonder if he has a point with respect to bad behaviour in public. People keep saying it's autism, but if I'd acted like that I could have gotten killed (at least I was afraid of being killed). Very easy to throw a child... |

You also have symptoms that need to be examined by a professional. There is nothing scary about a psychiatrist. There is a large body of literature in this field, and there are a number of people who specialize in these areas. I know what your description says to me, but I am not licenced to practic... |
