Hi Alison, I was just diagnosed this year and it has been fairly stressful. I had just found Asperger info on-line and knew that it described me. I went out and got diagnosed thinking that I really wanted to finally officially belong to the group that I fit into. I was very excited and flying high w...

Hi, I am newly diagnosed and have only told my immediate family so far. I'm not sure if telling people at work is wise. Will people start paying attention to every decision I make and seeing if it seems autistic. If they don't agree with me will they assume my viewpoint is less valid due to being on...

My very earliest memory is being given a bath in the kitchen sink. This was before I could speak at all. I leaned back a bit and the faucet was hot and I jumped. I never asked my mom about it because if she remembers it at all she would maybe feel bad that she wasn't more careful.

A disease to me is not something you are born with but something that infiltrates the body. That is probably wrong but it is the way I think of it.
Autism/Aspergers is a disorder that causes a specific condition.

The broom comment is kinda harsh!
I couldn't do math either but am very good with earth science/biology and other subjects. Stick with what you like and are good at and you will have more fun in life.

Sure, people who didn't grow up with AS may question if it is a real thing. We who actually have it KNOW that we were always different. It is NOT just a personality difference. We are not just normal people who are a bit geeky. We do tend to like the sciences and have interests that are considered g...

I can relate. I have only recently been diagnosed. I lived my whole life knowing that everything was harder for me and now that I understand I feel that I have the right to be myself and not try so hard all of the time. The only problem is that a lot of my family is pretending that I do not have AS ...

I love sci fi and I love adventure. But I also need a bit of romance so I am probably not your target audience! I am working on books as well! :D

That's right. We're also incapable of opening pickle jars and telling the difference between ketchup and catsup. Oh why is the world so cruel to us?

You know, I imagine that's true. Oh wait.

Very funny! :thumright:

Hey Bob the Martian. I do the same as you. I keep track of everything that goes on around me and keep a huge "database" in my mind that helps me to make decisions and act as normal as possible. When I was in school I found this way of living to be exhausting but I didn't know any other way to cope. ...

I do that too. My Psychologist says it is part of obsessive compulsive disorder. I think a lot of AS people show a bit of the obsessive problems.

I dream about being lost a lot. I will be in a massive parking lot and not be able to find my car. Or I will be walking in a huge city and be trying to find home. I wonder if I dream this because as a aspie I feel lost in the world.

(I too often dream of flying, and I love that!)

I accept that the 21st is the first actual day of spring but it is rarely nice outside by then in the midwest U.S. Usually we have some cold weather and/or snow at the end of March. I don't feel like spring is there to stay until about the second week of April or so. I really hate cold weather so I ...
