My husband and I recently went to talk to a therapist about my 14 year old stepson with AS. After discussing many issues with her, she said that he needs more specialized therapy and possibly in home services like he had when he was younger. She is supposed to call us with some recomendations but ha...

You know, I understand what everyone is saying here about it not being a problem etc., but that doesn't address my question and I also wonder if any of the people who think it's so clearly just a matter of acceptence, have any children of their own? You can say all you want about people accepting ot...

I saw this posting and was wondering what people think of our son's situation. He is 14 and has Asperger's and has been wearing a wig made out of a shirt, to make it look like he has long hair that he brushes etc. Recently, my husband and I have found him giving himself very large breasts by stuffin...

That's a good one "find the leader, punch him in the face". : ) Yeah, I like the martial arts idea but he really isn't into sports and I really doubt that he is going to come around to wanting to take a class. But a book on the subject of defending yourself against bullies is a good idea. I will loo...

Just curious...what's wrong with the Autism Speaks?

While I do not know much about medications for these issues, I do understand having to deal with a biological mother (my stepson's) who has done nothing but further his issues, rather than help him. She always told him he was perfect in everything he does, so now he has a huge ego and is correct ab...

I asked him last night if he would like to try some martial arts classes and he said he didn't know. I said you don't have to decide right now but it might be something you would like. He said...I don't knowwww. : ) So we'll see but I still think it's a great idea. As far as the "sexual harassment" ...

The Martial Arts school I was sent to required us to bring in our report cards. If our grades dropped, the teacher was harder on us. If, worse yet, WE were caught bullying, we were dismissed from the classes. A number of kids were dismissed when they became bullies after learning Martial Arts. That...

I like that Martial Arts idea. I think it's a good idea to know you can defend yourself physically if it came down to it but not to use it unless it is extremely serious because he is still learning appropriate behavior in a lot of areas and has a tendency to over react to things, we really want to ...

I know my 14 year old AS stepson gets very anxiety-ridden and stressed through out the school day. The other day we had lunch at a restaurant and his dad and I talked to him. I asked him if anyone was still picking on him at school and he got very quiet and looked ashamed and said yes. He said that ...

After a bit of looking, pedophiles do have some behavioural traits common to autistic people... But pedophiles are not interested in children because they cannot have an adult relationship, they are interested in children because of what they represent, innocence, something they want, but cannot ha...

I was told by our pediatric behaviorist that 30-40% of sexual predators, pedophiles, have aspergers. That these kids have trouble getting girls of their own appropriate age so they go after young girls that they can manipulate and control. Our doctor also said that this wasn't the first video incid...

What I have found disturbing with all this is that everyone I have spoken with professionally were not surprised and had heard all this before. This was news to me. If I had know in advance that Sexuality issues and obsessions were to be expected they could have been possible headed off and avoided...

I have an AS stepson who is 14 who has been taking all of my hair accesories, like hair bands, hair clips, barrettes, etc. He has been going through other things in my bedroom also. I have told him over and over again that he is not allowed to take my things but he does anyway. We just put a new doo...
