Lilacroft, I have just applied for, amd received ESA which is the new form of Incapacity Benefit - my doctor is very supportive, I am medically certified with 'anxiety and depression' at the moment, but I have a whole range of sensory issues and asthma as well...I will have to fill out a form asking...

Hi! What you wrote about 'hugging the fear stimuli' made me laugh - I was notorious as a small child for being found hugging all kinds of (supposedly) scarey animals...I can remember my father furiously shouting in a whisper at me to let go of the bull's leg and come out of the field (aged about 3 y...

Hi, sorry for delay, I don't get online at weekends at the moment (just got a phone with net access so that could change if I can get used to the darn thing!) I am speechless re your zen teacher...what the heck happened to non-judgement and unconditional and just letting things be what they are...my...

Hi! Donkeys! Especially big ones!! Wow :D I love them, wanted to get some myself but had very wet clay land (which they hate) and then no land because I split up with my partner...I had dogs (15) horses (5) and vegetables too. Recently self/GP diagnosed at 58. I do zen, but not in a committed way - ...

I don't think so for me personally - even when in a position to be part of a group of people, and accepted, I have a tendency to prefer to do my own thing. I maybe have a bit of an unusual view in that I feel part of the planet - connected to the earth, animals, plants, weather etc...not disconnecte...

177 aspie - I think 23 NT. I would have scored higher when I was younger probably. The 'hunting' thing intrigued me, I was really odd as a child in that I used to stalk things all the time...even other children sometimes, which didn't help with the social interaction I guess! Not that they often rea...

I was the same as a child - spent half my life up a tree! Also used to like climbing high walls etc. I also used to like jumping off things like walls, high gates, down stairs. I was interested in what misslottie said re the vertigo, because I am the same and always wondered why considering what I w...

Thanks for your input, it was helpful. Things have gotten much better since my first post. My partner is learning to accept her AS, as am I. It's like a person who has been continually stressed and depressed (dragging everyone in their family along with them) about not being able to understand peop...

I know, I know...brain fade...I just suddenly decided to stop and walk in the woods and up the hill, beautiful evening...because I hadn't planned it, organisation flew out of the window...plus I was tired which always lowers my IQ considerably  I had the back seat forward and some other stuff ...

SoulcakeDuck, if I thought that were the case I wouldn't mind so much - these people have far more money etc than I do, I saw them and their flashy car but stupidly didn't register what they were up to. Gang of bored kids. I live in a squat on my own, no bank account, live hand to mouth - my only ex...

This is pure self indulgent I-am-feeling-sorry-for-myself stuff but I am hoping taking it off my chest and plonking it on here might help  My birthday yesterday - no big deal, went to work as usual (on my own in my friend's shop in Glastonbury) nice sunny day, got a card and present...on the w...

It's really hard to get away, because people are constantly walking in and out of my room (when the door's shut they just open it), and even when I lock the door they knock until I open it. Every meal time I have an escort of at least 3 or more people, who "wait" until I'm ready to go so we can all...

I didn't realise but I have obviously been very lucky with my GP - I just kind of blurted out that I thought I might have AS, she talked to me for quite a while and then said she thought it likely...asked what I wanted to do, did I need any particular help...she said I am not sure what to do with yo...

To me, this recent AS discovery feels like visiting a previously unknown museum of my own life - to see all the stolen friends, failed social situations, meltdown scenes, isolation scenes.... all on display to me - with extraordinary new meaning. This is beautifully put...exactly what I have been g...
