I definitely have this problem. I wouldn't say it pisses me off per se. I've come to accept it for what it is. NTs are going to be critical and judgmental and know-it-alls when interacting with us, and I know my limitations and what I want and that's what really counts. I'm trying hard to own my lif...

Hi Mel! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Congratulations on getting closer with your brother. 1. Definitely do move out of your fiancee's father's home, as soon as possible. Make this a priority, as it is not likely to work out. 2. Do look into more schooling after you figure out what you are really intere...

For me, alcohol definitely improves my social skills and it helps to relax me and let me care a lot less about what other people think about what I say and do. I'm starting to realize though that it doesn't quite temper my very direct way of speaking, and the stuff that I'd be afraid to say normally...

Absolutely. She is an amazing individual. I cannot thank her enough for 'enlightening me'. What she has given by explaining autism from inside is such a gift. The way she sees things in the film really spoke to me. Some of the things that caused anxiety as well. So I decided to research the web abo...

I have started the clapping 2 or 3 times as a joke I've only encountered this in screenings or some special event. Seems kind of pointless to applaud for the projectionist or the automation software that runs the projectors. I think the clapping is to let others in the theater know that you enjoyed...

hi Kazz, welcome to WP :) I was self diagnosed with AS yesterday, and part of my realization had to do with work that day. I've always felt like I never fit in and that others tended to mock me behind my back or even to my face (sometimes subtle, sometimes not so much) that day was especially bad, a...

Hi, welcome to WP :) I just figured out yesterday that I'm an aspie, and this was after multiple years of not knowing for sure. I was sort of diagnosed with OCD in college, and suspected I might have ADHD too. The information I found online using the trusty google machine was useful, but in the end ...

Hi Lyll, welcome to WP :)

I saw Temple Grandin movie too, and always though ti'd be nice to be as successful of an aspie as Temple Grandin is, though she's obviously a rare, extreme case.

Hey Jeff, welcome to WP! :) I diagnosed myself with asperger's yesterday, and I'm glad you and others on here have reached greater self-awareness and have embraced the aspie identity. I'm 28, and am thinking of going back to school as well, as my original undergrad major (psychology) obviously isn't...

hi J, and welcome to WP :) A few other things... First, that pediatrician is definitely wrong about aspies not having motor issues. Those frequently go hand in hand, at least that's what my internet research tells me. Your 15 month son's early tendencies (late crawling/walking, low muscle tone, nois...
