A friend of mine gave me a few of his Lexopros. 30 minutes after I took it....WOW!! Went to the Doc and he prescribed Zoloft(much cheaper). Started at 25 mg and gradually brought it up to 150mg. What a world of difference. Even though I feel relatively the same, I noticed a few things: 1- Bad though... |

My blessed 8 year old moderately functioning son has never liked cartoons too much. However, he has always been interested in the old shows I used to watch. Among them: Andy Griffith, Nanny, All in the Family, Sanford and Son,The Jeffersons, etc etc. The canned laughter on those shows is an EXCELLEN... |

My fathers side is very quirky and shy. My father was shy but not quirky. His brother was very odd. I think my first cousin is a near asperger miss.
Moms side, nothing. |

That was a truly BRILLIANT response. I thank you for reminding me of "that side' of the equation too....Thanks :D Should I take that as sincere or sarcastic? I'm leaning towards sarcastic at this point. Either way no problem. I'm proud to say that I do in most circumstances take the side that no on... |

From what I've read, many people here can relate to the feelings expressed by the OP. I went through a lot of that, even though I was never diagnosed with anything, and still see myself as more likely not on the spectrum than on it (my son is diagnosed AS). I used to attribute it to being shy, and ... |

If you could take back so many moments with people because you prematurely misunderstood them about something, or just had the wrong and angry attitude at the moment.
I would need an abacus to calculate the moments.
Sorry for being such a self centered idiot. (sometimes) |

My understanding of the differences: 1. language delay : autism has language delay, AS has no language delay. 2. IQ: people with AS must have average or above average IQ, while people with autism can have any IQ. Autistic people with average or above average IQ may be described as having "high func... |

These two have intertwined with each other since conception, into a now very compact cell that has learned to live with each other. The two... |

I have been a member of the WrongPlanet since November of 2008. As you know, I adhere to the philosophy of positive thinking with autism. I adhere to the gifts that autism can give us. I must admit something to all of you, and it isn't easy doing so. But I have had problems in my career you should ... |

Why not go at an autistic pace? Our development is uneven. It makes sense we would do some things earlier and other things later. Going against your neurology is futile. It's an NT world and will continue to be. How does the saying go? When in Rome.................... I teach my 8 year old son to l... |
