If you have autism AND are at least 16; OR your have autism AND you remember your years between 16 and 25 ( my son does not remember his past ) please consider taking the following survey: Interesting. I have that too, however I haven't come across another person on the spectrum that has. I have a ...

I take 1 mg of Risperdal a day. I think it is a good drug. Before taking it I used to have paterns of self-injury and my meltdowns and tantrums were much worse. I also suffered moderate weitgh gain. Also I don't think it compromises my ability to think clearly. So Wedge, My son weighs 220 and is ta...

Antidepressants (for their anxiety-reducing effect) and behavioral support (and I do mean "support", not "coercion") ... . I'm on the former, and have the latter. The former doesn't do much for my anxiety (even in doses exceeding the on-label maximum), and it's equally prone to withdrawal effects a...

My son is on Risperdal and it seems to really be helping him. He is on a really low dose. He weighs 220 (he is almost 6 feet tall) and he is taking .5mg. It helps him sleep at night and is less combative during the day. He says it makes him calmer and he likes that. After I told him of some the side...

Ellen, here's my story. I haven't had a smooth transition from adolescence to adulthood. I think I am still emotionally a teenager or much younger. I have heard that many people who have Asperger's have an emotional age that is much younger than their age. Someone at Children's Hospital in Denver t...

Calista: The reason people with AS are not employed is not because we can't, but because they won't let us. The vast majority of us are capable of working, or capable of working if given training and/or support. You're not seeing the effects of Asperger's; you're seeing the effects of prejudice. So,...

Well no thats not what I meant. The study was done recently, but the people they looked at were diagnosed 2 decades ago. And the amount of difficulties required to get a diagnosis were much higher back then compared to today. So people who are diagnosed today are on average less detrimentally affec...

The following is a list of items I've observed most adults to eventually obtain (although they may be lacking a couple of them). 1. Which items have you obtained, and at approximately what age did you obtain them? Specify whether it is through choice if you don't have them, and add more items to th...

Ellen, have you tried to fill out the questionnaire yourself? If so, which browser did you use? I've tried Opera, Firefox and Explorer and none of them work :? What happens is you can't choose the same number for different questions. So if you select 8 for the first question, you can't choose 8 for...

Re Survey: There are two different kinds of answers you can give. The circles are for single answers. The squares are for multiple answers to one question. If you are still having problems, then change your browser. I use a Mac, and love it, and found that for many things I need to use Firefox. Plea...

Sunshower: Finally, I think you're doing very well and the effort you're putting in to be a good parent is highly admirable. You should be very proud of yourself, and your son is lucky he has a mother who cares so much about him and wants him to have a good life. While it is hard for aspies growing ...

The highest employment figure I've found for those with AS is about 30%, and this is in the US (it still stated that most were given jobs by their families or low-tier stuff, no matter how intelligent they were). As of now, it's about 15% in the UK. Social relations and independent living seem to b...

I'll give you the facts: For those with AS, the majority will live at home with their parents, won't work, and will have few or no friends (this is pretty much a direct quote); most complete high school, but they rarely go any further For those with HFA, the majority will live at home or in an inst...
