If you want to know how it all works, read up on the Domain Name System. It would help if you could give us some idea of what purpose you have for finding a random webpage. |

Quote: lots of porn
That was Tim-Berners Lee's vision for the internet all along, despite what people have made it out to be since. |

#!/usr/bin/perl open(FILE, $ARGV[0]); $numlines = @lines = <FILE>; print "Lines: $numlines\n"; for (0..($numlines-1)) { printf "Line %d: %d\n", $_ + 1, length($lines[$_]); } Oh Perl, you rascal. |

Something I've noticed about Linux is that even if you're the only one using a particular machine, you still have to take on the role of "System Administrator". Its roots as a multi-user system, rather than a desktop environment, show through compared to the commercial OS's. Not that its rare to hav... |

This is all very interesting, and for all I know, dopamine levels may very well be the gap between aspies and NTs, although I'd need to see more sources backing this up; what I have a hard time swallowing is that taking one dose of methylone permanently rewired your brain. That just doesn't line up ... |

I'd actually suggest messing around with Javascript, since you don't need to download a thing to run it; the browser that you use to browse wrongplanet will be happy to run your Javascript. Its not a bad language for beginners. You'll learn the control structures and data-types that are common to mo... |

I'm curious, what happens when a group of aspies get together for a social gathering? I know that at least some of you have taken part in social events with other WP members; so what's it like? Are people able to socialize in their special aspie way, or do they avoid each other? Seriously, I'm curio... |

I have Linux Mint on my laptop, and I think they've managed to put together a pretty nice "workstation" type of environment, with lots of useful software pre-packaged. There are some annoyances, such as the fact that I had to download and compile the driver for my wireless card myself, and sometimes... |

I can't really answer that question without knowing what definition of hacker you're thinking of. To the general, non-technical population, it means someone who breaks computer security; in certain circles, it's more or less synonymous with "programmer", with some caveats: writing a little VB doesn'... |
