I feel the same way about the term "high functioning." It implies that people with HF autism function at a higher level than most people. They may function at a higher level than many autistics, but the professionals should coin a another term.

I didn't know that I had Asperger's until I was 49, so I know what you're going through. I knew there was something wrong, but I didn';t know the cause of it.

I just joined myself. Your child at least has the advantage of being diagnosed at an early age. I did't know that I had Aspeger's until I was 49. Best of Luck, Jack.
