Hello I lurk about on here and only post rarely but I have a real problem that is breaking my heart at the moment My 17 yo daughter was diagnosed about 2 years ago, after I spent a long time soul searching whether to seek a diagnosis. In the last few months we have have had many ups and downs - she ...

Hi, I'm in the Uk with a 16 year old daughter diagnosed about eight months ago. Like your son she does well, so she has gone unnoticed for years. However her forthcoming transition to university, adulthood and independant living worried me - which is why we finally pushed for a diagnosis. This, hope...

My daughter (now 16 and dx'd last year with Aspergers) had a selection of imaginary friends. The primary one was called Purple Billy, but Purple Billy had a friend called Marna who would also visit. Billy and Marna were constant companions from about the age of 2 until after Millie started school. M...

I have a different experience - my daughter hated rough and tumble play, hates tickling, being lifted up and spun around. Indeed she hates almost anyone touching her body in this sort of way. I wonder if it is a gender difference here?

Millie, almost 16 now, and diagnosed with AS just a few months ago, has always had favourite clothes - one summer (not so very long ago, definately whilst in her teens) she spent all summer in a football (soccer) kit, complete with shin guards... When she gets something new she wears it and wears it...

Dear Iluvgsus Your line "I have been wondering what we did wrong as parents to make our daughter not want to hug us" made me want to cry. I have felt like this for years (really years) with my daughter who is now 15... What you describe is very similar to her. Stick to your guns and keep fighting fo...

Hi, I lurk around here most of the time - my daughter is 15 1/2. I've had worries about her eccentricities and quirkiness for about 7 years... and finally last month she was assessed by a psychologist. She scored borderline in a lot of areas - the psych felt that she made a lot of eye contact for ex...

Hello Quick refresher - Millie is 14yo, and in the process of being assessed for AS. I've been reading around this forum and have come across the term "stimming", but am not sure what it is... Millie does things like flicks her finger nails, tugs her clothes, makes little noises. Is this stimming? W...

My 14 yo daughter (in the process of assessment for AS) was, for many years, apparently depressed. This is how her AS manifested itself - montone voice, lack of usual interests etc. I took her to the Doc, who referred her for a mental health assessment, which came back negative, but no-one suggested...

We've started some counselling, individual and family, for the self harm. It is the youth workers who have been working with M that have highlighted the potential AS. They are in the process of sending a referral for assessment. Millie is very keen to know whether she is aspie, or whether she just h...

At pre school my daughter had a little friend called Jessica. I asked what Jessica's other name was, what came after Jessica and Millie thought for a bit.

"Jessica Getoutofthemud" came the reply :D

Hello, My daughter is 14 1/2. I have wondered and it has now been suggested by others that she may have AS, and I wondered what your views as parents and people with AS were about it. Millie is a very quiet, academically able (almost gifted) musical girl. She causes no problems at school and has a s...
