I appear to have grown out of it, because I've learned to move with much greater care and precision than everyone else.

In my case, or my experience, it's failing to get past the content. I've observed that if someone unpopular says something corny and false, it's corny and false, but if someone popular says it, it's original and funny or wise. While I'm trying to work out whether someone likes me enough for me to ge...

We must be the only people in the world who have to work out what a friend is.

I never know who my friends are. From time to time, someone I know will mention that we're friends, and it usually surprises me.

God, no. I wouldn't inflict this on anyone. good lord how you remind me of most black children during the turn of the century with that mindset. they'd be shown two dolls: a white one, and a black one, and they'd ask which they preferred. They all went for the white one, as the black one was consid...

In this example, the NT person would look to the other person for cues on how much sympathy they want. Some people don't want any expression of understanding, while others want lots of it no matter who died. We would be able to ramp it up or tone it down based on how that person reacted to our reac...

I think Stinkypuppy's been writing some very astute and perceptive stuff in this thread. It's clear from observation that empathic behaviour by normal people is often dishonest: they'll sympathise with someone until they go away, then reveal that they were faking it. They empathise less with people ...

I've become that way. I was arrogant and domineering as a teenager. Over time, I made serious mistakes, and learned that I don't know any better than anyone else, and certainly shouldn't give advice. Oddly, I'm sometimes considered wise or mature or something simply because I often don't comment.

Having a family, I've learned to conceal my distress. Things I can't replace - because people who use or borrow generally abuse and ruin - I keep out of the way. At work, years ago, I had drinks stolen - I don't drink the tea and coffee everyone else does, but when my cold drinks are around, the tea...

A failure. Comparison with my peers makes it worse, because my potential seems greater than theirs, but here I am stuck at their level. Worse again, they seem content, while I'm not.

Is this true? I haven't noticed this information anywhere, and I don't think it's true of myself.

Very strongly biased toward reading, then if appropriate looking to see what that means in practice. In training situations I get told off for reading the handout while the trainer's talking.

If it's only work experience, it might not matter much either way. With longer-term work, there might prove to be unforeseen circumstances in which it might have been useful to have AS known by an employer. For instance, years ago I had a personality clash with a superior who refused, in writing, to...
