Thanks to everyone that has helped me in understanding my son's email. MRXxx, you sound so much like how my son tries to analyze things. Sometimes, I think he over does it a little too much making him somewhat critical. The way you analyzed the way he see's the world and the way he feels it should b... |

My 14 yr old sent me this email today and I was wondering if anyone can help me make some sense of it. I don't know if it has to do with me being on medical leave so long and money being tight and maybe he is feeling the pressure or worry over me or a combination of things. Sounds like he is having ... |

I forgot to add he is highly interested in music and all the different instruments. He plays sax, fiddles with the key board and guitar. He is now looking into an instrument that I believe is out of India. It has strings like a guitar but a totally different sound. He is trying to figure out how he ... |

WOW! Everyone here has given me great things to think about. I am in the US and I don't think he is old enough according to our state to take the GED. Which he has begged me to do. Tracker you sound just like my son! He always tells me how all the things they do in his school is totally useless and ... |

Thank you Gavin. Alot of what you said makes sense. Do you have any suggestions on how to help him with his anxiety issues? Examples of these are; A month before school starts, he gets really upset to the point of pacing his bedroom floor and sometimes crying. While doing this he is trying to ration... |

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried some of the things you talked about. Just like with the virtual instruction, I made a schedule for him to go by and it worked for awhile but he went back to the stuff he was interested in. As to him wanting to skip all the way to college, you might have a point. ... |

I hope someone can help with this. My son was diagnosed at age 13 in May 2009. Before this, every year about a month before school was to start, he would literally get so upset about the start of the new year, that sometimes it brought him to tears. He paces the floor in his room while trying to tal... |

reply to qbollard, No my son is not on any meds. His tics are more like habits to me. He taps on things constantly sometimes to the point of annoyance. I have to say his name in a stern voice sometimes to get him to stop. Sometimes I feel he should be on an anti-depressant for the high anxiety issue... |

We had adopted a dog. A 5yr old Boxer. She has done wonders for my son. She is the most gentle and loving dog which makes it easier for our son. We adopted her in April this year and at first my son would pet her tight flat handed for a month. Then I started noticing him petting her. Actually pettin... |
