I don't even LIKE this song, really, but this would be the theme song for me. You can tick off the symptomology line-by-line. Avril Lavigne -- "My World" Please tell me what has taken place 'Cause I can't seem to find a trace Guess it must've got erased somehow (poor short-term memory) Probably 'cau...

Dead split: 107 Aspie, 107 NT. I have a diagnosis, but I've always wondered if I might've been so desperate to get a diagnosis that I put on something of a performance for the analyst. Now, on this quiz, I deliberately tried to resist marking things that I was even vaguely uncertain of. How very odd.

The THX/Dolby Digital sound in movie theatres (though I've learned to tolerate it over time). The sound an eraser makes against paper. Cutlery on dinnerware, nails on chalkboard, etc. Fire alarms / fire drill bells. The sound that the door-locking device in the sociology department at my school make...

In addition to the above quibbles: anyone else happen to notice the "Dear Sirs?" I'm not a "sir," so until you tell me I'm welcome here, you're getting no input from me. Anyone still living under the "only boys have Asperger's" umbrella clearly hasn't completed a literature review sufficient to begi...

I hit my head a bit as a kid, but then seemed to give it up for a few years, almost inexplicably. When I was fifteen, I started cutting--thinking, oddly enough, that I'd "invented" it. I was battling what my parents considered a perfectionist streak, and whenever I felt overwhelmed--by friendship di...

No marked inability to read facial expressions, insofar as I've noted--though I do perform more poorly than expected on those online "What is This Face Feeling" tests. I have a great short-term memory, and a really poor long-term memory. My AS brothers and boyfriend can read lists and know them rote...

I'm still not sure if my AS diagnosis is accurate, because I don't do a whole lot of this. But there is one example that springs to mind: I was 18, and on my second evening at my very first job I ran out of things to do, so I went to the boss to ask what was next. He said, "Recovery. Here, follow me...

I'm female with diagnosed AS, and my boyfriend is also diagnosed AS. He has an encyclopedic memory--definitely a "little professor"--and quite a few, intense, special interests. I tend to develop special interests pretty infrequently, and they don't last for very long. Even when I do have them, I ha...

What about walking on the sides of your feet? Does that count? I don't think I've ever really walked on my toes, but I really like to walk on the sides of my feet, with the soles turned in. I'm terribly knock-kneed, so it feels more comfortable to me. I don't know if that's AS or just bad anatomy.

Wow...I scored a 60.

I was really convinced that I was giving an adept neurotypical performance, too.
