As a parent of a teen on the spectrum, this is a difficult question. We've struggled with getting him to attend school in person. Virtual learning has been an absolute failure. There are things in life that are mandatory, and at some point he's going to have to learn how to push himself to do them w... |

I think getting him a diagnosis and IEP may be a good help. I'm one who myself was never diagnosed but probably on the spectrum, my son was born in Michigan, we lived in Indiana for 3 years and he was diagnosed there and got a lot of support with late milestones starting at age 3, and it got him all... |

FYI, my former colleague responded suggesting I make the suggestion using a new website Hill-Rom just recently set up for ideas:
http://www.hill-rom.com/usa/IdeaCenter.htm
I sent in the idea of using The Vest for deep pressure therapy for calming. |

Okay, I just sent an e-mail to the guy I know. FYI, it does sound like there might be others that are onto the concept of this sort of device for deep pressure: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/05/080521174320.htm Mostly I was explaining the risks and changes needed to explain that as a med... |

Okay, my brief post earlier I did in a rush this morning since I read it while eating breakfast before heading to work, with a little more time for now I can ay a bit more. I might have some mild aspergers, and my 5 year old son is probably at a similar level on the spectrum. He has a diagnosis of P... |

I used to work at Hill-Rom. Maybe I can find someone to pass a note to about The Vest's possible applications with AS, but right now I need to get ready for work... I might need a reminder in case I forget. |

I can draw well enough to communicate ideas, but I've preferred doing my own CAD to generate drawings and images. After years of self-taught Unigraphics work, one of my past employers put me along with all the other engineers through a Catia v5 class. My writing has always been terrible, I've always... |

Recently while watching Temple Grandin, I thought it was funny when they showed a picture of a guy standing next to a cow in front of a church when it was suggested to her that she could take animal husbandry in college. The movie of course isn't the first time I've heard it said that autism spectru... |

Really, and as this is my forth post and I think I forgot to mention above I should mention I only suspect I fit criteria for AS and don't actually have a diagnosis, but I've always thought I had bad memory, but I think what led me to believe that is that I don't remember what people say very well a... |

This is going to be much shorter than I'd like because I have to get going to work early, but I wanted to throw something out that maybe I'll explain more later. I was processing the movie Adam some more in my mind, and I still have to get time to write my review, but like I said in the title, I had... |

What you describe sounds like a lot that I can relate to, and my first thought from the title is that it's imprecise to refer to the condition as something wrong, rather it's just different. For myself, I think I fit the criterea, but my thought is - what's the value in diagnosis at this point? All ... |

I'll just say hi real quick, it's almost time to go home so writing something quick will help the last few minutes that aren't enough time to get into a new project but an intro will be quick enough to do before I go... At any rate, my name is Will and I'm a mechanical engineer. I'm 37 years old, I'... |
