Looking back, from birth it was blindingly obvious. Why did every little thing seem like such a battle/nightmare? Why did I feel so stressed when other mothers looked so relaxed? He freaked out if I used a hairdryer or a vaccumm cleaner. Freaked out at bath-time etc etc etc..... Was it like that for...

Hello there!

So good to meet you - now can you please tell us where you get your energy?

I live just outside London, England, so I am not likely to run into you over in Texas. I am grateful for this forum because it give us an opportunity to swop notes.

Keep going for it!

My 5 and a half year old baby aspie longs to go out on his own. If you leave a door unbolted he'll be gone. It happens often and we have to run and hunt for him as soon as we realise he's gone or we'd never see him again. I would love to be able to just open the door and let him out like we all did ...

I agree with everything said above. Sometimes, when we've had a bad week, I find myself dreaming again of slamming the door behind us and jumping on a plane to Africa where we could live in a scruffy, large game lodge on the edge of nowhere with a load of staff and the kids can run and explore and n...

Hello there! - It's uncanny - I have SO been where you are now!! !! Congratulations - like many aspies your son is a natural adventurer - unfortunately, he's almost 20 years too young to have that freedom! My son is 5 and a half and he is the size of a 10 year old. We had (and still do to some exten...

There's just isn't any excuse for this kind of nonsense any more.

Can't you sue for discrimination or something?

If the next school is 10 miles away - how on earth do you get him there and back?

Thanks Clara - the 5 and the 3 year old are very competitive. If I carry the 3 year old the 5 year old insists on being carried otherwise he has a tantrum and lies down. If the 3 year old goes in a stroller the 5 year old wants to go in a stroller too because he likes to be the same - but I can't pu...

To be brief - 5 and a half year old Aspie - now in his second year at mainstream school - all things considered, he's rubbing along quite nicely. When it's just him and me I pick him up from school and we walk home in peace and chat to each other. So - add to the mix his 3 and a half year old NT bro...

Am I the only one who can see the irony?

There are so many parents out there who lie awake night after night, year after year, longing for the day that their child speaks.

Personally, I am delighted that she speaks too much! Rock on little girl!

Sorry - been there too!! ! However, if you want to take a different tack and let me run round screaming at them all with a bright purple face (which I can be depended on to do at certain times of the month) then you have only to send the message! And - if this prospect does not appeal to you then - ...

We went to the music shop and bought a piano! We got him a guitar too and he holds it real low - just like the stars on tv. Now for reality - does anybody have any experience of aspies learning instruments and any ideas/memories they want to share? I am wondering what kind of teacher could really he...

You just almost described my son! I think your son has AS but you have to ask yourself - do you want a label for him? Only if the label is going to help him get services he needs should you go for it because the outside world is still so ignorant and may make incorrect assumptions. Of course, there ...

How does the addiction start? Do yo mean how does it come to pass? My son ate pretty much anything until he was about 2 1/2. At that point he refused all of his meals which he used to enjoy and had loads of meltdowns because he was so hungry. I was tearing my hair out because it's sickening when you...

Yes, my little monkey (aged 5 and a half) has been on eye-q for almost 2 years. He loves it and we call it his fish medicine. He also has his "tonic" orange daily multivitamin syrup which he also loves. He loves the ceremony of it all. We have seen the greatest changes for the good in him since we s...
