Yeah cause gender is a social construct. No, gender is determined by the presence or absence of a Y chromosome. Gender roles are social constructs. The confusion is between common & academic uses of the words "gender" and "sex". They're commonly used to refer to the same thing. In academic use,... |

I'd be happy to call you Bryce, regardless of your physical state. Everyone's lost in many ways, they just aren't aware of it, as you are. Knowing this gives you an advantage. You do seem to have clarity in listing your options. The next step is just thinking about what would result from each choice... |

Thanks again, Sparrowrose, you've addressed about all of my questions. You've mentioned "research" several times--am I right to understand that as searching for and reading relevant literature on a topic? I've generally followed the experts' recommendation to do hardest things first, but the advanta... |

Interesting. Your work habits must be efficient. Rotation of areas worked on seems to be what I'm most lacking, and thus may gain, from what you've described. Completing short tasks first to allow for "spilling over" at the end of sessions on longer-term work also seems a good idea. Thinking ahead a... |

Doing a little bit of something every week day keeps everything moving along and keeps me from getting frantic with deadlines or scrabbling to put together something half-acceptable. "a little bit of something every week" would be an improvement, maybe also using checklists on what this should be, ... |

I've used GanttProject (free download at http://www.ganttproject.biz/) -- good simple software for making them, but with limited benefit for me, as I said. Doing a little bit of something every week day keeps everything moving along and keeps me from getting frantic with deadlines or scrabbling to p... |

Thanks for the suggestions so far. It's very useful to read of the work habits of those who have already been successful, and the things listed which I'm already doing are encouragement that I'm on the right track at least with these things. I keep countdown timers (weeks, days, hours) to my deadlin... |

I'm at the end of my first semester of a university course, and I've failed to do as well as I know I could. Organization, planning, and being balanced in my use of time to work toward multiple goals are the main problems I've identified. I'm probably doing other things very inefficiently, to make i... |

My exams for uni start in about 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to them, although I wish I had more time to prepare. For me, it's a lot simpler to prepare for an exam (by making flashcards (using free software such as Anki), & then using these as regularly & often as possible (the most time-eff... |

Pumibel, I'm the same with tree structures (for example, as in TreePad, KeyNoteNF, etc., and dabbling into spreadsheet territory with TreeSheets). I am still trying to improve my organization, adapting to full-time university study. Can you give some examples of column and row categories/titles for ... |

I love philosophy. It's my major in my current BA degree. I understand it can come across as boring, or sometimes seem to be a pointless waste of time. I suppose it depends on how it's looked at & taught. Epistemology is the basis of science, so no less important. I've not done a unit directly o... |

I've thought the same thing regarding empathy -- I don't eat any animal products to avoid causing/contributing to the suffering of other creatures because (apart from logical moral reasons), the idea of doing so causes the same sorts of emotions, sickness/feelings in my stomach, etc. as described ab... |

There can be innumerable reasons why someone may say such a thing, which may have positive, negative, or a mixed motivation/s. Removed from the situation as we are here, the closest to a correct interpretation I think we can give is speculation on the probability of each of these possibilities. Fact... |

Hello, My username is Shiyin, which means "recluse in the marketplace" (according to the book 'Three Thousand Years of Chinese Painting' by Yang Xing et al) -- which I've chosen because it seems apt on the web ("marketplace") generally and in our contemporary commercialized society, and because it c... |
