I don't have a lot to say in response, but thank you for your help. I appreciate your answers and the insight you've offered. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm just a little freaked out. Discovering that there may be some fundamental difference between the way you live and perceive and the way o... |

Just a thought experiment. Let's say there's a perfect physical copy of you, everything from DNA to brainwaves to memories. There is no physical difference between you, except for the space that you occupy, which can easily be rearranged so that you occupy one another's space. Why are you one and no... |

Children's cartoons today just seem silly. I blame the Japanese cultural invasion. Adult cartoons can be brilliant. South Park, for example, is just awesome, though you can tell the guys who make it aren't "professional writers" and episodes are really hit-and-miss. Sometimes they seem to think some... |

So a friend sent me a 50-question quiz to determine my "AQ" and it said I am extremely likely to have AS. It makes sense when I look back on my life. At this point in my life should I even bother seeking a diagnosis? On the plus side, it would give me a better understanding of my own limitations and... |

Five years but it was a four-year degree and I was full time, and my parents were nice enough to let me stay with them. Kind of wish I hadn't rushed in straight from high school because I was pretty wet behind the ears and didn't take school seriously the first two years, which sucks for my GPA. Any... |

Noone puts the bosses that fired them as a reference so they wont check up. Hmm, I guess this depends where you live. I live in Winnipeg and I've noticed that sometimes employers will phone the company directly even though I listed someone's direct phone number. The way I know this is I'm friends w... |

I have no idea why, but the great Russian authors absolutely dwarf everything else in the literary canon. Their sense of scope is matchless. Some favourites: "The Brothers Karamazov" by Dostoevsky. Most challenging, insightful, and rewarding book I have ever read. Changed my life and the way I think... |

sinsboldly: Thank you for the insight! I will definitely see about speaking to a psychologist. I'm open to the possibility that I don't have AS but it seems like the criteria used by professionals isn't all that different from the criteria you encounter in online quizzes. The main advantage I see in... |

peterd: Thank you. I guess my suspicions were correct. After a bit of googling I was lucky to find an adult support community in my area, but I was hoping for some professional insight. I tried one of those internet tests. Took it once, left it for a while, then came back to it much later and tried ... |

Hello, I am a young adult and I suspect I may have AS. How would I go about getting a diagnosis? From what I’ve read it seems like diagnosis is mostly done in children. I was never diagnosed as a child, but descriptions of symptoms I’ve read are pretty faithful to my own memories of childhood. From ... |
