Anyone else here into the Raspberry Pi? I'm currently on a Pi 400 and it's been my daily driver for the past 6 weeks. I'm a retro/vintage computer/console enthusiast and have managed to set up emulators for every system I own up to 32-Bit. You might say that the Raspberry Pi 400 is one micro-compute...

I remember watching a TV programme on Channnel 5 (UK) about homeless people and there was one person who was PhD educated who was living in a tent and collecting and recycling rubbish as an ongoing social experiment. This was someone who could have been earning a good living as a university lecturer...

I stick to forums. Various ones that are related to my hobbies and interests. WP is a particularly useful one because it's possible to talk about many different things (including politics and religion which are quite sensibly prohibited on many forums).

I am also interested in a preaching career but I prolly would not get hired because I am single and unmarried. Catholic priests have to take a vow of celibacy which is kind of the opposite of having to get married and have kids. What about the Salvation Army? They have special colleges where they t...

It was Oprah Winfrey who said: "Lots of people want to ride in the limo. What you need is someone who will ride with you on the bus when the limo breaks down." Everyone seems to have a huge list of contacts on their mobile phones but how many of those people are people they can turn to in ...

I've been a Linux user for the best part of a decade and have very little experience of post-XP Windows operating systems. It feels like I'm almost fated to be a Linux user; every time I come up against something that looks like I will have to turn to Windows, I always seem to find a way that allows...

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes earlier this year as a result of over-eating. The medication I was given (Metformin) has helped me lose weight because it gives me diarrhea if I eat fried food. Just from cutting out fried food, I've lost half a stone in the space of a few months.

Anyone watch the Sonic cartoon from the early 90s? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6qJag0nnPM&list=PLySo2SlSHPSOOGZM3_2Qun52hCaRNYW9y&index=13 This is a show I used to watch as a kid and I still love it. I have the complete series on DVD. It's basically slapstick a'la Road Runner only with ...

I was a latecomer to the 360 myself (2016). GTA V and Red Dead Redemption are killer apps IMO but all the GTA games are worth having. I also highly recommend Blur and Split/Second: Velocity; fast, aggressive driving games with lots of power ups. The 360 digital store was also still up and running wh...

^I don't think it's clear that the OP wanted to share information about her relationship on this forum. Just because someone chooses to share information on one forum it doesn't mean they want it shared by another person on another forum. And this is very sensitive information that many people are p...

I have problems with hoarding and self-neglect to the point of "safeguarding" intervention from social services. It came to a head recently when a contractor was unable to carry out a routine electrical safety test because of the condition of my home. This is something that has gradually g...

I've come up with a better build from PC Specialist (which actually works out cheaper than the one in my OP): AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT CPU (6 cores at 4.5GHz base speed) 8GB AMD Radeon RX580 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (2x 8GB, DDR4, 3200MHz) 1TB PCIe SSD 24x DVD R/W optical drive Corsair 750w RMx power su...

I'm thinking of dropping some cash on a kickass gaming rig. I have some experience of PC building from cheap/used parts but for this kind of investment I want a warranty behind it and the reassurance of having it built by people who know what they're doing (the PC I built lasted about six months bef...

I've been using Linux as my main desktop for 6 years (mainly Mint) and I've always approached it on a problem-solution basis; I have something I want to do and I figure out how to do it. I haven't consciously tried to learn terminal commands or become a "power user". I just learn what I ne...

I've decided to post here because I think posters here are likely to know more about human biology than the folks in the politics section. I've been thinking about the 28% who are at risk of serious illness from Covid. If we can spot the genetic pattern that makes a 25 year old with no pre-existing ...

In the States the stores label where the fruits and veggies come from. Are you fresh veggies from the local area or do the come from a distant part of the world? In the UK, a lot of our food is imported from the EU (which is one of the concerns with Brexit) so I suppose things might be different fo...
