I must have a very mild variation, because it's only really some "do I really want to go to this social gathering" kinda thing, mostly. Everything else, I just go with my gut.

A lot of my friends are outside my grade, either through school(before I graduated) or church youth group. Mostly younger, I'll add, but I do get along with a lot of older, more mature, students.
