That worked really well for a while until eventually he met some woman and moved a few miles away to be with her and stopped bot...

You sound a little like my parents. They've been married for over 50 years. My dad is definitley aspie. It has been hard on my mom, and it has been hard on my dad living with a non-aspie. Now that they are retired, my dad sits in his den all day doing stuff on his computer or watching sports (and av...

Hi ebec, ask for something besides paxil. It has terrible withdrawal symptoms. I've been taking it since 92 and have tried to quit several times. It's awful. Fishface is right that paxil is the wrong drug for bipolar. The drugs for that are anti-convulsants or lithium. I take lithium and it works we...

There are 2.3 million African-Americans in Florida, and 1.84 million are of voting age. About 60% are registered to vote. That's 1.1 million registered African American voters in Florida. Voter turnout is usually between 60 and 70 percent for the presidential elections. So in all likelihood, at most...

There have been a few times when I spotted a guy who I just somehow knew was "like me". On these occasions I actually approached and spoke to them and my hunch about them was right. This was before I knew about Asperger's. Anyway, I think there might be something like "gaydar" for aspie people, mayb...

I cope with the eye contact problem by having diversionary materials handy. For example at meetings, I will take notes so that I have a reason to look away from people. Being a woman makes it easier because I can look in my purse for something if I get the heebie jeebies. Also I carry a PDA so that ...

Congressman Rangel (D, NY) suggested that the draft be reinstated so that young people would pay more attention to politics. No one has seriously suggested that the draft be reinstated, and no legislation on this is pending. Snopes covered this: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/draft.asp One ...

I used to be married to a very social person, who always wanted to have parties. I observed people's behavior at the parties and experimented with different ways to alter their party experience. For example, I found that if I arranged the furniture in a way so that people had to walk around things a...
