Same is true with mine, the only times he is quiet are when he's sleeping or trying to get into something he's not suppose to. Car rides too will sometimes keep him content but not always.

What is your first name? Bob Age: 29 Location: Florida, miles away from roller coasters and theme parks. Current perseverations: Ignoring movies and music that came out after the 90’s. Obsessed over coffee in all it’s various flavors (except blueberry flavored coffee which is am abomination of natur...

Thanks for the advice, the Intro I left alone and fleshed out the chapter in a bit more detail focusing on a couple things from the original.

More often then not I usually find myself ignoring compliments, a little shrug with "um.... okay" is my response a majority of the time. As for returning compliments I'm even worse. Women at work are especially fond of being noticed for any slight change no matter how insignificant - a new hair styl...

I'm a little worried about being a thread killer, especially in the Parent's Discussion page. However, I'm thinking that obsessively replying to random posts might resolve this. I've found that starting up posts is much like the show Jeopardy! when if you don't post in the form of a question no one'...

Actually it does help, it seems like one of those things that I'll probably laugh about in a couple years a "remember when?"

Anyone else have tales about their children pulling randomly amazing escape acts - or perhaps their own adventures while younger? I'm a little curious. :?

I read all the twilight books in about a week because I'm an avid reader irregardless of how much I like or dislike a book. I outgrew my vampire reading phase years ago, Interview with a Vampire was probably the last vampire book that I found at least amusing - the following ones by Anne Rice seemed...

About a month ago, Nicholas (my non-verbal autistic six year old) decided to play escape artist. My wife and our oldest son were watching a movie in the living room while I was sleeping before work. He was in his room lying down, so my wife thought that for once he was actually going to nap and give...

Wasn't sure if this was too long to post in the writer's showcase otherwise I would of put it there. Note: this is the rough draft, if I worried too much about the struture rather then the substance I probably would of procrastinated writing this for even longer. 8O -Diary Of A Social Moth- Introduc...

During high school I did something very similar to avoid the "dork" label, in denial about my diagnosis despite my parents frequently reminding me how much of a ret*d I was (their words - not mine) popularity seemed like an unobtainable state of being reserved for those blessed with good genes, fash...

I've found that I'm far happier when I can choose the amount of socializing I have to endure on a daily basis. Public school for me was one of those "grin and bear it" deals where the routine seemed rather mindless. Like a gerbil on a wheel, it was something that had to be done the consequences of w...

Icks that reminds me of the time that I got my first tattoo, my NT friend Andrew decided that he wanted one and drag me along for moral support (don't ask me why, I think he thought that if I was in the same room as him while it was done he would have an audience to tough it out for). Long story sho...

Like Color to the Blind by Donna Williams One of the few auto biographies I've seen about life with autism (well, at least in the limited selection of the public library here). It's been awhile since I've read Tony Attwood's complete guide but I see other people beat me to include that one on the l...

Taking time to really think, however, I realized it was out of character for the personality I'd made up, and now, a year later, I'm still putting things together and realizing some of the character 'flaws' I've hidden from people all these years are what make me who I REALLY am. I can relate to th...

I post here and there in various sites and have noticed that the more popular of "social networking" sites tend to focus more on applications then people actually writing. I joined up with WP about a month ago and have been fairly impressed with the responses - they tend to be more then the usual on...

A few observations as a father of a non-verbal autistic six year old and how his diagnosis improved my life. Sounds a little odd saying it that way, but for me living with Asperger's has always been a battle of trying to blend in enough so that everyone else doesn't pick up on it. My guilty little s...
