I hadn't been in any kind of relationship when I was 18 either. But I'm in a long-term one now. I'm not saying it isn't work and there aren't rough times, but that's true for everyone. Don't talk yourself into (or let a web site talk you into) believing it won't ever happen. Plenty of people with A...

Wow, I used to think I was good at socializing, too. Ha! Don't listen to that website, it got several things wrong. Maybe you should get some confidence, take the plunge and ask her out? If she says no, which may be the worst thing that could happen (don't forget to catch her alone, in case you did...

As you have probably heard it said time and time again, people with Asperger's have a hard time reading body language. I guess this is somewhat true for me, but to be honest, I really haven't had much of a problem with it. I can easily tell when someone is happy or sad, or uncomfortable, etc. Then a...

Incorrect.

I could have sworn I saw a study saying that. Maybe girls just aren't diagnosed as frequently.

Sorry if this type of thread has been made before, but I was wondering what the typical girl with Asperger's is like? Obviously men have it a lot more then women, but what personality traits do they usually possess? There's a guy in my school who I'm 99.99% sure has it, even though he's never been d...

Afraid of going to college, afraid of getting a job, afraid to ask out the girl I like, afraid of driving, afraid that I'll be living in my parents basement at the age of 30. I f*****g hate acne, braces, being scrawny, never having a girlfriend at 18, not having my drivers license at 18, not knowing...

Is this just the Army, or is it all armed forces of the US? Where did you hear this? And is ROTC(Reserve Officers' Training Corps) included? I hoped to be able to join the airforce/navy after high school and take advantage of the scholarships that ROTC includes. Aspies may be an advantage for thing...

Damn. Wish I didn't have a diagnosis.

Wow, sorry for ruining your dream. :( Then again, it's probably better that you hear it from me. It would suck to go all the way to the recruiting office and find out that you can't join because of Asperger's. Maybe it's better you find out this way.

I can't believe I didn't see this until now. I'm not sure if this has been discussed on the forums before. I didn't see anything. Anyways, on April 28 of this year (2010) the US military announced that people with Asperger's were no longer qualified to serve. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this...

I've been following the forums here for a few years now. If the posters here on WP can be considered a good cross section, it IS true that a good many aspie males have difficulty in the relationship area. My guess is that the number is about 40% not 90%. But when I say "difficulty", I mean just tha...

ryanms92, I have Asperger's. What we see here on WP is actually often the minority of Aspies. The people who actually finished junior high. That don't look different. The people that knows more than 7th grade math. Those who get girlfriends. I am not one of those. Most men with Asperger's are like ...

Hey, I'm the OP of the topic. I realize this thread is VERY old, but I just spent the last hour going through all of the pages and I just want to make a couple comments. Sorry I never responded to the thread. Truth is, I completely forgot about the website after I posted the topic. I mainly w...

"Why am I not interested in women? Before I got my Aspergers diagnosis in June 2003, I had complexes for being 30 and a virgin. They went away with the diagnosis. My social abilities are so extremely bad that I never learned how to get friends and to understand other people. Therefor, I don't have t...
