Big weather fan. I like storms and unusual weather. (Two days ago we got 16" of snow.) However, the incessant cloudiness of my locale can be depressing especially in the winter.

There are a few communities where the prevalence is much higher than average. Silicon Valley for one. Mine is another though I don't know any of them. Tech towns and college towns.

When you do, be prepared, because nearly everyone you try to explain it to doesn't get it, even if they like you and want to understand. Young kids are incapable of it and deal with the unknown through negative...

Bland- try your local library first as they may have a lot on archive. I grew up reading Scientific American, Discover, and Smithsonian. That's a variety of science for laypeople, with Discover maybe being more mainstream? Though I haven't read any of those three recently but the Smithsonian so I'm ...

mine seem to be changing with time. When I was young, less than 15 I'd say, smell was maybe the worst. Even thinking of smells would make me physically ill. These days smells don't bother me. When I was young I was impervious to cold. Wore shorts to school in the winter. Now I don't do well with the...

ah, that sucks. My cat is ancient (nobody really knows) and I've been debating putting her down for the past few months. She's got a lot of problems, but the vet says none of them are painful. I don't know what I'm going to do and I have to decide in less than two weeks. Sometimes she looks unhappy ...

Hey Tom- I've been sober for over two years now. Was a complete mess before that, and had tried quitting many times before. Not sure how I actually followed through, but I did. Well I guess it was do or die, so I gave myself a christmas present two years ago and stopped. Never went to any meeting th...

So if you want to stay in and/or protect in a free country you should sign up to fight and do whatever George Bush and co tell you for whatever reason without questioning or criticising the logic and wisdom involved in those decisions? That attitude sure worked for the Japanese, Germans and Italian...

to clarify what made me ill: I saw a member of a support site, one who is very fond of this site, offer to help financially with running this site, and all he wanted was to know what was going on. I also saw less than forthcoming answers about the questions, making we wonder how supportive the site ...

Reading this thread nearly made me ill. Kevv please keep your money for now. In my opinion, and no doubt many others, the whole issue of the ads and the money is just too shady. The half-naked women are promised to be removed; it doesn't happen. Intellitext ads suddenly appear in our posts, and the ...
