I do not know. Is any change in the dx. really going to help or hurt us as a group that much if the group itself has factions at war with each other? I tire of seeing comments on blogs and forums alluding to all Aspies/HFAs as being elitist jerks who want nothing to do with the lower functioning aus...

Hmm, the talk of flattened expression makes me wonder about myself. I definitely do not fit into the category of "flattened expression" under any definition of the phrase, nor do I emote with gauche, over-the-top expressions. I wonder if that is due to my upbringing, where I was surrounded by a fami...

I student taught pre-diagnosis and hated it. Teenagers are such an emotional mess and routine means nothing. You can do your lesson plans, but that does not mean that you will always be able to stick to them. There are days were kids were not responding and I had to come up with things on the fly. O...

I like being mostly indifferent. It keeps me above the fray, although it does lead to people thinking I am believe I am superior to them. Not that I concern myself with that.

Umm ... the Supreme Court has determined that competent persons have a constitutionally protected liberty interest in refusing unwanted medical treatment. Several cases have covered this, but it culminates in Cruzan v. Director, Missouri Dep't of Health, 497 U.S. 261 (1990). Thus, unless you are goi...

I ignore the world unless I have to view it. My eye is turned inward and I prefer it that way. I think in legal terms -- logical, reasoned, researched, every fact known, every side of the argument taken in to consideration and an answer scripted for it. I am a lawyer and the training fully encompass...

My parents have a cocker spaniel who acts like an Aspie. She hates to be touched, does not like anyone besides my father, and is so deeply set in her own routines it is not funny. I know dogs are creatures of habit, but she gets visibly upset and behaves badly if her routine is changed. She is not c...

Lately it seems to be Mafia Wars on Facebook, agricultural law as it pertains to sustainable agriculture and balancing the world's food needs with the need to protect the environment, and picking the brain of a very, very intelligent friend of mine who is fascinated by what he calls "my unique style...

It takes me longer to write something because I must carefully organize, but I feel my written skills are far superior to my oral skills. In fact, I think I can prove it since I have been published. I have an absolute fascination with language, which I think benefits my writing skills. I need them t...

Helped out with my anger issues. I had and still have serious anger issues. Instead I was sent to a psychologist and put on depression medication because nobody knew any differently. This was in the days before AS diagnosis.

You might be an aspie if: the rest of the law students think you are weird for enjoying legal research. you would rather not litigate, but deal with transactional law instead. Or appellate cases, which involve lots of research and little interaction with others. you enjoy the quietness of the librar...

I know it is long, but ... I have been friends with this guy (I will call him "B") for about 15 years now. The relationship is of a sexual nature, although we are definitely not exclusive. He has other girls, I do not have other guys, mostly because of lack of interest in them and the social aspects...
