Welcome, andg

Regarding the Taj Mahal, I saw it as a kid in the 70's. Yes, it was breathtaking as I expected. But one thing that was so unfortunate was that some of the semi-precious inlaid stones had been stolen.

The particular difficulty I am facing is that the guy who is training me was trying to get promoted to this position I have, but was turned down. I got the position he wanted. Now he is training me and resentful, and not more help than he has to be. Therefore, I have a social obstacle and I am no go...

I'm sure this is not a new subject, but I tried to search for an earlier thread on the same topic and didn't find one. I've been unemployed and just a few weeks ago got a job. I like this work and I fit well into it, except ... I come across differently than I mean to sometimes. At what point, if ev...

There is an article in Yahoo online news about autism. I just posted, in the comments, a link to this video. It seems that as much as people are wanting to know more about the subject, there are still just one or two slots that autistic people fit into, in most people's minds. This video is great fo...

Thanks, leejosepho. SAD is real and the effect of almost eternal overcast on me is real and pretty severe. I did feel great for that couple of months; I wasn't just trying to convince myself. I felt more positive, had more energy even though I slept less, and I felt there were more things possible i...

I tend to think autistics are less likely to even drink at all, but that sure did not stop me! . . . . Sure, and now you need something to replace the alcohol, correct? That was my deal. leejosepho, thank you much for the time you took to thoughtfully answer my post! It hurts to hear of how you los...

I'm new here, and though I try to read through a thread before replying, that would take me days in this case. I'm probably alcoholic. I'm dealing with a hell of a lot that has happened in my life. I didn't start drinking until I was 25 years old, which I think is atypical of those with a drinking p...

I suppose its because of differences in the way one thinks. Right? :) Most people in India don't have english as a primary language, they tend to think in their mother tongue and directly translate it into english. e.g. In hindi I would think "Ye baarish ka mausam hai. haina?" now that becomes a qu...

One thing that got me in trouble at times, after I moved to the USA at the age of 16, was a certain conversation pattern that I grew up with in India, that did not work here. In India, I could make what sounded like a statement, then just by adding one word at the end, make it into a question. Even ...

As I knew India, compared to the USA, traditions were of very high importance, and social rules less forgiving to those who "broke" them. This has probably changed some since I was there 30 years ago, but still I imagine being an AS adult in India might be more challenging in some ways. There is one...

Great thread! I am INTP, 95% on the intuitive part.

I learned of this test years ago, and read the book "Please Understand Me". It really shined a light on life and helped me a lot!
