NT I think you are scratching the surface of it, but haven't gotten deep enough to see a whole new world that NTs live in. There isn't anything magical about abstract thinking. Numbers are considered abstract, and most Autistics know numbers. Some primitive cultures don't have numbers beyond 5, and ...

One day at work, I was walking down the hall when I saw a person I hadn't seen before. He was standing, looking at some people. I immediately went to my department and told everyone to be on their best behavior and look good, because there was a new guy around, and he looked very very very IMPORTANT...

What I really hate is:
"Good try!"

What was I trying to do, and how could it be good if I did't actually accomplish whatever I was suppose to be doing?

1.For those who are adults, from the moment that you accepted your diagnosis (or self diagnosis), how much progress have you made in overcoming the things that you feel were difficult for you previously? 2.In terms of social skills, are you closer to where you want to be or closer to things you don'...

A desert filled with dunes of golden dust and springled with chunks of love. And it's still a desert, so caravans of people pass through leaving only their footprints.

Here is my reasoning on the issue. First, the personality disorders. Sigmund Freud gives the best statement to describe them: " They are the last people on Earth who should have this disorder." The personality disorders can be best look at as a severe discrepency between a person's ACTUAL PERSONALIT...

Imagine that you are in a perfectly dark room, and you hear an odd sound behind you while at the same time, a bright red light flash in front of you. Ignore any emotional fear. Question: Is it logical to conclude that whatever caused the bright red light, also caused the odd sound? Why or why not.

About the grass treading and sidewalks: Wouldn't Aspies rather stay on the sidewalk obstinately because of their sometimes compulsive rule following? This is a good thread, it brings to light some of the inner thinking of the Aspie mind. This thread is a good example of social cues and social bound...

One interesting behaviour I found was that if there are paved pedestrian pathways, NTs will avoid grassy areas at all costs, even if the pedestrian pathway does not draw a straight line to where you want to go. This is true even when the grass is dry. As the poster above pointed, it's about respect...

That sounds more like pure OCD rather than Autistic obsession. Most anti-depressants and mood stabilizers will kill sex drive in days.

I think the significant thing here is that it's an OCD symptom and not actual natural sex drive. You should be treating the OCD primarily.

I would add 1 more category to DeftPlane's post above, and it's a rather hard concept to pin-down even for an NT. the fourth category would be things that reduces a person's flexibility. Most ASD love routine and by nature are very rigid, but NTs hate rigidity and the same routine almost as much as ...

In other words, your personal feelings and opinions toward...

abstract concept: A means of describing or categorizing the objects of inquiry (how the world, people or things work), by thinking of "thing-in-itself", meaning thinking of the properties of things that can not be seen, touched, tasted, or heard, etc, but still are known by the mind. To conceptualiz...

Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity. Proposed by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, the positive psychology concept has been widely referenced across a variety of ...

First impression is that you are a computer programmer. You wrote an essay on a forum with proper formating and no grammatical errors. You're methodological and specific. Given what you've presented I would say that you do have Asperger's Syndrome. You're just very lucky in that you're sensory issue...
